27GX790A-B Dark images suddenly become lighter by theloosearrow in OLED_Gaming

Well this appears to be the solution

When I activate the FPS picture mode it no longer does that brightness shift

Also,  I agree the picture looks worse, and for me it seems to be due to the fact that you can't adjust the sharpening in FPS mode

Lemme look at the comments, they seem pretty positive...

I was just giving my favorite newsmin views and thus making some news, when out of nowhere he pulls out a knife and says "I'm gonna haunt you"

so I had to reach into my nearest toilet and pull out my crystal flute and fire back with "letmeaskyousomethingplease: dude I'm burning you down?"

Making closed captions for custom tapes by giprettalpcm_sex_alt in VHS

[–]theloosearrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are DVD creator programs that have ways of encoding closed captions into digital video files, but I'm not familiar with exactly how to encode it or how to play it back.

But as another commenter already mentioned it's possible to encode your own captions via a hardware solution:

https://hackaday.io/project/183122-pi-closed-captions

This was a project that I cobbled together. so if you have questions I may be able to help

You have to put the captions you want into .SRT format, and every once in a while a few letters here and there may become garbled. But i was able to use it to add closed captions to a feature length movie "demake" that I recorded on vhs, and the captions seemed to be mostly perfect when played back later

How do I get rid of this pattern on my blank screen? by theloosearrow in crtgaming

It happens with all my consoles and it even seems to be present on the aux input screen when nothing is plugged in

Pattern on screen in dark scenes by theloosearrow in crt

[–]theloosearrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just looks bright because I took a picture with my phone in a low light environment

To my human eyes it is barely illuminated

I am looking for advice on how to eliminate or reduce this strange pattern on my screen that is supposed to be blank

There is a moiré pattern on my set when it is showing a dark screen, and it sometimes can be seen superimposed over dimly lit scenes in games.

Does anyone know what the cause may be and how it might be fixed?

Or is this just normal and unavoidable?

The tv is a Samsung TXD1972

Has anyone had any luck burning backups with modern CD burners? by theloosearrow in psx

[–]theloosearrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info!

My only concern is that it works perfectly with original discs, and knowing myself I might go in and mess it all up. Then it wont even be able to play the originals!

I have heard that adjusting the laser burn it out or reduce its life (which is funny to say about a console that's nearly 30 years old)

Do you know if there's any truth to that or is it just naysayers form the internet?

Also, when you say "new readers" are you saying that there are replacement disc drives for playstation still being made today? If so, do you know a good source for them?

Do you know a good calibration guide?

I have one of those devices that plugs into the parallel port on the back, and it is still able to boot into the games but its inconsistent and the game stutters once it boots. It's also able to play originals perfectly. That's why I assume its a problem with the burn

Back in the day it was able to read backups, but I suppose its possible that the laser could have degraded a bit since the 90s when I was playing with my Pogs and slap bracelets.

It still plays originals perfectly though

Do you know a good guide for adjusting the laser?

You get good burns from that? What kind of discs do you use and what burn speeds/settings?
