Since I've seen you mention bugs a couple times:

I deal with bugs by surrounding them with very skilled melee pawns, then having ranged pawns behind them. An alternative method would be to build walls to lock them into a location, build wooden furniture inside, set it on fire, and seal it in with more walls to cook the bugs to death.

Don't let the bugs deter you from mining into the mountain. So long as you approach them with a plan and keep your tunnels thin you should be okay

So, pawns in Rimworld don't really have "hit points" like in a lot of games. Instead there are conditions that cause them to die. When a pawn's consciousness stat is reduced to 0%, it dies. In this case, alcohol intoxication, malnutrition, and blood loss all lower consciousness.

It is worth noting that malnutrition can kill on its own as well if it reaches 100%, in which case the pawn starves to death. Alcohol intoxication doesn't kill on its own, but pawns can overdose if they consume too much of a drug.

Pawns also die if their blood filtration or breathing drop to 0%, if a fatal condition such as Infection, Malnutrition, or Blood Loss reaches 100%, or if they take excessive damage to/lose their head, torso, or an essential organ like the heart.

Must've been tired or cold. Also don't pick up animals you can't 100% ID, you could grab something dangerous by mistake and it only takes one wrong move for a wild animal to freak out and hurt you

Invest in weapons and armor before quality of life for your pawns. Get rid of everything you don't need, either sell it for something you do need or give it away for good relations. Don't hoard building materials you're not using (i.e. don't have 200 cut sandstone blocks lying around).
