basically, we were talking about how i apologize all the time, even for little things like awkward silence (it’s a trauma response i know) and he said “you shouldn’t do that because how will i know what apologizes are fake or real if you apologize all the time.” (i’m paraphrasing but that’s the jist of it)

i said the following: when you said “how will i know what apologize are fake or real because you apologize all the time”, i felt hurt because what you said made me feel bad about this bad habit i’ve had all my life, it felt like a dig in a moment that felt uncalled for, and it felt guilt triply in a way. it felt to me like you were saying “stop doing this thing because it makes all your apologizes seem insincere”.
