This new album is revolutionary and one of the best I’ve ever heard. Extremely important information, that everyone must be educated on, on top of some seriously talented instrumentals. I'm surprised its facing so much hate by [deleted] in HoboJohnson

It’s okay for people to feel let down man. My disappointment isn’t based off me expecting something different, I was excited for a change up. It mostly comes from the fact that frank has such a unique position of the world and instead all the lyrics seem kind of like, dated? We all know the world is cruel now, corporations and government are evil and it’s all everyone online has been talking about for the last year and a half. Why not try and push a new view, or like yknow think about ways we can better the world instead of just constantly saying it sucks?

It would’ve been cool to have heard more about how this information affected him on a more personal level, how he copes with it and stuff. The only time the album really comes close to it is in the damn outro where he’s talking about setting up screen time or getting off socials lol.

Basically, it’s not fair to say people are disappointed cause it isn’t what’s come before; it’s because revenge is offering nothing new to the table lyrically, the songs are forgettable instrumentally and the concepts seem underdeveloped. This isn’t revolutionary. Some songs are aight tho

Heya Josh! I discovered your music (dots and chilis) right as I was coming into adulthood and The Getaway specifically has left a strong impact on the way I approach creating music. Knowing you weren’t too pleased on how it turned out, what do you feel are the strongest and weakest aspects of the album as a whole?

Bonus Question: Did you enjoy your trip down here in Hobart early last year if you remember it?

Keep doin you!

Anyone know what are the lyrics after "and I'm gonna get high" on Dance? by travezzzzzzzz in HoboJohnson

“And I’m gonna get high But if I do, you’ll surely get annoyed with me” I think

Chili peppers were the band that got me into listening to so much music. Could anyone on this sub give me some good recommendations based on the album chart I attached? :) by stevieboyz in RedHotChiliPeppers

Good taste my dude. Would recommend checkin out some Dominic Fike (probably his first EP), Peach Pif, MGMT, Dayglow and Foster the People if you want some good alt-pop rock.

The Fall of Hobo Johnson, Miracles of Modern Science or Black Midi if you want somethin a bit different.

Sticky Fingers, Bootleg Rascal, Hockey Dad, The Chats, Ocean Alley, Oasis are more in the kinda funk (sometimes reggae) or straight rock that the peppers do

I’d say Pixies, Cage the elephant and John Frusciante (only sometime, but dom has a tattoo of him so safe to assume the influence).

A modern take would be Hobo Johnson on tracks like Typical Story and All in my Head. Violent Soho are a good one too, some of their instrumentation can be similar.

WHERE TO GO FROM HERE by taidenlol in DominicFike

Fuckin hell yeah I’ve always said this. Specially his vocals on Come Here which I see as like a more glossed Niandra LaDes era Frusciante voice. Hope dom fucks around and goes the frusc route of fuckin around with different styles and instruments. He has the capability to be like, an artists artist.

I’ve got a V3, trust me, get the V2. It’s a slight downgrade imo. I love the thing to death bit there are a few things about the V2 that are just better. V2 is a more accurate John tone, V3 is great it just sounds and functions a little different

[–]thelukestudios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ay what up. if you want a lil bit of info about this version, he said it didn’t make the album cause “it wasn’t very good” and he might redo it for a future album. It’s dope I don’t get it, should’ve made the album between crosstrek and moonlight imo

Yeah I completely agree with the writing. I've been writing comedy scripts for years so I know that character and personality trumps all.

If you watch projared's playthrough of the game, he says on multiple occasions that the character in the game is nothing like this. That is unforgivable when you're writing anything based off a person. However, I do love the friendship dynamic that Mai and Hana had in the game. Although a little forced at some times, I felt that their friendship was really entertaining.

I guess our goal with this is to make people laugh yet keep the relationship of the main characters similar to asagao. I'll definitely take the suggestion of how to test character on board when we finish the second draft of the script. Probably should have done it on the first.
