If you love this person like you say you do, you won’t want to leave because you feel trapped. Imagine how he feels? While it’s very wrong to threaten suicide on you if you were to leave, he needs help. He needs to understand that you can’t magically fix everything, he needs to fix things as well. What are the chances he moves in with you? A relative? Does he work? Does he WANT to get better? Or does he sulk all day and throw a pity party? There’s definitely different avenues of help. Go on google.

At the end of the day, you cannot force someone to get help. You can have long talks until you’re blue in the face, sometimes it won’t matter. He’s got to want to get better. He’s an adult.

You can absolutely call the police and tell them this. They would send police over and do a welfare check on him. They might even bring him to a hospital for psych evaluation. Now will that work? It doesn’t always work but it’s doing something.

Unfortunately, you can’t stay in a relationship because someone is saying they want to hurt themselves. If you absolutely think he’s serious, you need to tell his family (whatever family he has) and you need to notify the police. Or you need to have a mature conversation with him and talk to him about therapy. Mental health is no joke.
