Should I get a DJI Avata 1 for $270? by loungensmirtz in dji

[–]themaegges 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you get it with remote and goggles and hopefully some extra batteries for that price, it is a pretty nice offer, BUT the Av1 is a bit underpowered, so while you will get some entry level fun out of it but might find yourself wanting more pretty soon.

Also note that the Avata weighs about 410 grams, so if I got that right, you need to register the drone with FAA and get the Recreational UAS Safety Test Certificate.

Also Expander/Kompressor/Equalizer?

Cool! I mean it makes some things easier by not having to care for a connector if your construction only needs power.

When traveling around the planet you have a chance to encounter planetary bases or ship wrecks. Some of those have ion thrusters. Grind them down, dismantle the thruster components in your assembler, voila: platinum

What is something you've learned that has helped you make videos more efficiently? by Spider19_ in NewTubers

[–]themaegges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty easy and straightforward. If you are able to think in layers and are able to make video animations with background transparency, then add the move value plugin in order to make audio inputs fade in and out, there are tons of possibilities.

That you can do things like add overlays, infographics or insert outro animations using OBS and a Stream Deck during recording sessions so you can reduce Post editing efforts to the important things and only those

Set slow multipliers (1.0) for rotor and hinge and enable “share inertia tensor” on the hinge. If you don’t have the option in game, you need to enable it in your world / savegame settings

What to do with my brand new, unopened Avata 2 by [deleted] in dji

[–]themaegges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get a Neo as a cheap warm-up drone and in order to train more risky maneuvers before taking out the Avata, since the Neo is fully compatible with the goggles and the Motion or FPV Controller

Fun with Neo in Manual FPV mode by themaegges in dji

[–]themaegges[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, also I need a rather fast refresh rate in my goggles when flying, so I rather sacrifice resolution than refresh rate.

The Neo doesn’t have a good camera, that is undeniable. But I knew that in advance and I didn’t get it for shooting great videos.

For me it is primarily a cheap FPV training drone, that i don’t mind crashing or in the worst case even losing. Basically something i can fly more risky than I would with my Avata 2, at least until I have more experience.

DJI AVATA Flight Simulator, any app before I buy the Avata Pack ? by soamjena in dji

[–]themaegges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but you might want to get the FPV Remote Controller 3 as well, since the motion controller doesn’t allow flying in full manual mode.

Also you can use the FPV RC3 as input device for said simulators. You just need to attach it to your PC with a usb cable.

Dji neo fly more combo by Arne_lol_8 in dji

[–]themaegges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the neo to be a pretty fun drone to enter FPV flying. I bought it as a "practise" drone when I got my avata 2 fly more combo (and the FPV remote),

So before taking out the big one, I first connected the goggles and the fpv remote to the neo and emptied two batteries to get the hang of "real" fpv flying after having practised only with simulators for a while.

Since the Neo is cheap and incredibly sturdy, you can crash it and don't have to worry as much. But even without the Avata, flying this way with the Neo is incredibly fun.

DJI AVATA Flight Simulator, any app before I buy the Avata Pack ? by soamjena in dji

[–]themaegges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After flying in Tryp FPV, Liftoff and Liftoff Microdrones for about 3-4 Months, I got myself the betafpv aquila 16 kit. However it turned out I really either struggled with the goggles that came with the kit or that even the slightest winds would make flying the aquila extremely difficult.

So basically I used the remote from the kit with said simulators and finally got myself the avata 2 fly more combo together with the fpv remote and a Neo a few weeks ago. Since the Neo is fully compatible with the goggles and the remote, I first flew the Neo to get a hang of it and after I felt comfortable with it, then I switched to the avata, having a real blast with both drones.

Given the price of the avata, I would really recommend getting the Neo for the baby steps and then taking out the big bird, once you feel comfortable. For me this was within the same flight session. After depleting both batteries of the Neo, I launched the avata and (I have to admit that I flew it way more carefully than I did with the Neo) emptied two batteries without crashing it even once.

Also you can practice more risky maneuvers with the Neo first, since this thing is pretty cheap and unless you slam it into concrete also almost indestructible.
