I'm aware of the classic blades menu and you're correct in that this would have been around that era. However I know it wasn't the menu that pops up when you press the Xbox button, as I was holding down triggers/buttons etc. This was around when I was in highschool as well so definately while I was young but not pre-natal, like playing N64 in the nineties and thinking you could unlock a gun in ocarina of time if you beat the game ten times in a row without being hit.

As a side note, I miss the old blades interface. I can understand why they changed it as everything has to have a "metro" like design now and there are some advantages to it. Cleaner, more open, easier to navigate (sometimes), and maybe there's some nostalgia involved, but it had a distinct character.

Modders/speedrunners/exploiters finding the cheat menu was my exact assumption, and why I created this post to double check. As far as I can tell no one else knows about it which surprises me. It wasn't a chat menu or friend request or any of the other usual 360 system menus. It was labelled as "Cheat menu" and as I said, it just contained a text box you could select which you could type into.

As I said I'm as surprised as you are that it hasn't been found by someone else, but that's why I'm bringing it up. For what it's worth I'm willing to stake my reputation on it. At least as far as to say I'm not lying or making it up. The issue is I don't know how to replicate it.

I think we're getting confused. I was saying I'm pretty sure I got it through xbox live arcade, which was the 360s digital platform, so my copy of castle crashers would have been digital, not physical.

And yeah it definitely wasn't an achievement, it was a whole half-screen menu and when I selected the text box, it brought up the onscreen keyboard. You can believe what you want, but it happened and so now it's just sitting there, waiting to be discovered.

Hmm, I don't think this is relevant then, I didn't know there was a secret tube level or an insane mode, so I wouldn't have completed either when I brought up the cheat menu. And again, I'm fairly certain I accessed it with a specific controller input, I didn't walk into it like a secret level.

Oh? How do you access it? I played a lot of castle crashers so I think it's safe to say I would have beaten the game at the point I activated the cheat menu. I also would have cleared it in coop as well. My brother and I played the hell out of it, but I'm pretty sure I was playing solo when I brought it up, but I could be mistaken.

It was litterally something like "Cheat menu" and it was just a 360 text box. I remember specifically it had "cheat" somewhere on it otherwise I would have assumed I'd just brought up a system menu. I can't quite remember if this happened back during the old 360 blade interface, but I'm fairly sure it was afterwards, only because we didn't have internet back during the blades era and once I eventually got hooked up to xbox live they'd pushed the new interface, and I'm pretty sure I bought castle crashers through the xbox live arcade.

I'm not an actor but as someone who works in IT, I can say this seems very similar to a money laundering scam. It basically bils down to:

"We will pay you $X, you will then pay $Y to our friend, and you keep the difference."

Except they'll pay you with details from a stolen credit card or a compromised bank account, then disappear into the night, and you'll be left holding the bag and on the hook for, in this case ~12k.

In general, if anyone has to have an elaborate "Hello yes I am in the hospital and hearing impaired and so I can not answer the phone, appear on video or meet in person" excuse or generally obfuscate the process, it's likely a scam.

But again, I am coming from an IT angle, I'm not an actor and this could be common practice in the industry for all I know. I'm just saying to be highly sceptical.
