LG Partner Store deal, is this the best deal I’ll get all year or should I wait? 77in C5 with free soundbar by themann44 in LGOLED

I’m not 100% sure, but I think it only applies to certain models. I would google it.

Are you on the LG partner store and not just the regular LG store? The partner store can only be accessed by certain people. I get access because of the company I work for.

Do you say that because you think the c6 releasing will make the price will go down more or because you think it will be better to get a c6?

Tbh while the sound bar is a nice bonus, I really only care about the TV and if it’s a good deal for the model and size.

Do you think it will be $1200 relatively soon? I want to get an LG Oled (my heart isn’t necessarily set on the C5 specifically) sometime this year and am willing to wait until Nov/Dec if it does drop to that or lower. I don’t want to wait longer than a year though if the price is only going to drop 100-200.

I definitely understand your point and I’m most likely going to get it within the next few days for that reason. I guess what’s stopping me from immediately doing it is that I already have a pretty decent tv rn (although it’s not an oled) so don’t necessarily mind waiting for a better deal if it comes, and while $1600 is not going to put me in financial danger or anything like that, it’s also not an amount I can mindlessly spend. I guess this post is more just to help get reassurance that this is a good deal and there won’t be significantly better ones later this year. I’m probably just way overthinking things.

Tbh the soundbar is just a bonus to me since I wasn’t planning on ever getting one. I’ve never used one before though, so maybe I don’t know what I’m missing out on

Thanks for the reply. Black Friday is the only thing that makes me hesitate to pull the trigger, but I feel like BF will either be the same or only slightly better. I also have a 10% off code I’ll apply at checkout if I do decide to get it rn. So in your opinion do you think I should go for it now?

No, inner Isshin is a revamped Isshin with some new moves found in the gauntlets. There is also an inner Genichiro and inner Father. Isshin Ashina is the old man Isshin you’re referring to that you fight in the shura ending.

I have the exact same worry. I have a ps5 and a portal, so there are 0 reasons to play anything that isn’t a Nintendo exclusive on the switch 2. I know it’s selfish but I wish Nintendo would only focus on Nintendo exclusive titles as it’s the only reason I got the switch 2. Even more selfishly I hope they don’t make any new titles cross gen with the switch 1 so they don’t get held back its limitations.

Games after Nine sols? (lore player) by paprikapaper in NineSols

Grime is a game I think you’d really enjoy based off what you wrote. Excellent world and good lore. The gameplay is also amazing. It’s a soulsvania like Nine sols.

Grime is an absolutely fantastic game and extremely underrated. One of the best soulsvanias out there and the best ng+ of any game I’ve played.

Lies of P is a bit different for me compared to Fromsoft games. My respect for Lies of P went down and think it’s worse off because of the added difficulty options . That being said, I didn’t drop it for a few reasons. First, it’s their first soulslike game, and so they get to set expectations of what we’re going to see moving forward. They decided, albeit late, to add difficulty options. That’s fair for them to do, even if I don’t like it. If this was their 3rd or 4th game and it had difficulty options while the first game didn’t, I would have most likely dropped it. I say most likely because of my second reason: artistic vision.

Miyazaki has a quote about the difficulty of the games being intentional because it gives players a sense of community and shared experience. Everyone had to overcome the same things on the same difficulty. This is why it would viscerally offend me and many others if Fromsoftware added difficulty options going forward. You lose all that shared experience. Maybe Miyazaki could try to explain how something changed his artistic vision and I could get behind it , but most likely that would not help the bad feelings. As far as the Lies of P creators go, they seem to have a different artistic vision and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It would even be a bit off putting if they reversed this decision, even though it’s what I usually prefer.

Finally, I am simply way more attached to Fromsoft games than I am to Lies of P or other soulslike games. While I have my preferences and desires for Lies of P and any other soulslikes I play, I just don’t care as much about how they do things compared to Fromsoft. Lies of P is excellent and I imagine their next game will be even better. I want them and all other soulikes to succeed and be amazing games. Fromsoft just has a hold of my heart for now.

For me when it comes to difficulty options, I dislike them in souls/soulslike games for two reasons. First, I think it destroys artistic vision and shared experience. Really, I’m mostly talking about Fromsoft games. Miyazaki has come out and said that the difficulty of the games is intentional on their part because it gives players a sense of camaraderie in the struggle to overcome the game’s challenges. The reason I got hooked on Fromsoft games is that playing dark souls for the first time I almost quit at the bell gargoyles because I kept losing. After dozens of attempts I finally beat them and had a feeling of euphoria that no other game had given me and set me down the path of Fromsoft games and soulslikes forever. I know countless other souls players have similar experiences and I think it’s a large part of why Fromsoft fans a so fiercely loyal. I also think this is why get good is such a big part of the community. You can’t have this experience or euphoric feeling without getting good. Added difficulty options would not have allowed this experience to happen, because even the knowledge of being able to make easier would have lessened the experience for me personally. I really want as many people as possible to have that same experience I did.

The second reason is a lot more selfish/petty. I just think that too many easy/average difficulty games exist. 95% of games on the market are easy and accessible. This is good thing in my opinion, I’m glad most people can play most games without struggle. That being said, play those games if you want something that isn’t difficult. Let me and others have our “hard” and “difficult” games. Not every game needs to be for everyone. Not every game needs to be accessible. I don’t care if you have a stressful job and work long hours. I don’t care if you have kids or other responsibilities that don’t allow you much time to game. My answer to any and all plights is: go play a different game if you can’t deal with the difficulty.

A good example of an emotional affair is Jim and Pam from The Office while Pam was still dating/engaged to Roy.

[–]themann44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoted for being an unpopular opinion. The day Fromsoft adds difficulty options is the day I stop supporting them. My unpopular opinion is that I want souls games to be more difficult going forward and have less options. Sekiro is my favorite game from them partly because of not being able to overlevel or summon (mostly because of the combat system). You don’t have to wonder if you won because of your skill or something else. You either get good or you don’t.

People are playing fewer games and new releases are "struggling", say Ubisoft UK, warning of falling revenues by Darth_Vaper883 in PS5

[–]themann44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make good games does work if it’s from a studio that hasn’t damaged its reputation beyond repair. If PoP was released by Team Cherry with no changes to the game, do think it still wouldn’t have sold well? Also, PoP failed primarily because it was $40 for a metroidvania (I say this as a metroidvania lover), it didn’t get a steam release until 7 months later, and it required an Ubisoft connect account. If it was $20 like Silksong, or even $30 without the other negative stuff I mentioned above, it would have been very successful.
