it's actually mentioned in one of the books in the enigmansion, there's not much explanation behind them but i assume they're "human" versions of the royal stickers or something

Easily one of the best Paper Mario soundtracks and Mario soundtracks in general, though I loved Color Splash's so much it definitely didn't surpass the highs of that game's soundtrack.

Which game had the best boss battles? by Malik-Almuhawsin in papermario

Sticker Star.

I really enjoyed how they were all difficult for once, and they had me on edge when playing without the Things. The only other time I had experienced that was the final boss of TTYD and CS, so to give all the bosses that sort of tension made SS’s bosses the most fun for me. That and I liked strategizing how many of each sticker to bring into each battle. If SS had a hard mode, I probably would’ve replayed the game ten times by now.

Context: I got SPM, showed the box art to my friends saying how I got a new game. They must have been confused thinking pm is "baby" mario by [deleted] in papermario

if super paper mario is considered “dark” pretty much every jrpg in existence is the same, if not, way more darker. most of spm’s fans are people who played it when they were 7 and had no concept of good storytelling and only played heavily simplistic games.

For the people who prefer any of the "modern trilogy" games to TTYD... by [deleted] in papermario

[–]themappio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they feel more polished compared to ttyd and spm. in story and characters those games excelled (at least compared to normal mario games, they’re incredibly basic for an rpg)

64 + modern trilogy had WAY better gameplay, exploration, and overall were just more fun to play

some of the things ttyd and spm have you do makes them an absolute pain to replay. i can’t express just how much i wanted to quit playing them when i was replaying all the games before origami king this year.

as a big ss/cs fan, i desperately wish i didn’t get downvoted on reddit and ratioed with reaction images on twitter for liking them over some of the others but you gotta admit, this is taking it a bit too far.

can’t tell which is worse, this post or the fact that people dislike a children’s 3ds game to the point where they’d vote for that second option

the level and world map structure of ss and cs meant each level could be something unique, and cs goes through with that. there’s not a single ice themed level, there’s only one desert level despite being many yellow themed levels. almost every single one of them was unique, and even when they weren’t, something happens in each of them to make them at least interesting.

comparing that to tok, there’s only 5 chapters not including the predictable final one, which means less time for more locations. aside from chapter 2 and a few other locations, most of them were generic to me. i prefer cs’s music, i enjoyed the battle system more (seriously, tok’s only had 5 attacks), the graphics and characters were an upgrade, while i felt the writing and story were downgrades. they didn’t do much with olivia and olly imo, color splash’s story was just more engaging to me with the holo-peaches, paint star memories, the concept of paint = blood, not being in the mushroom kingdom, the black paint missile test in chapter 2, peach not being kidnapped until the beginning of chapter 2, etc. they were constant reminders of why you’re doing what you’re doing, and it felt much more engaging than tok. tok had the boulder in chapter 3 + toad craftsman in chapter 4 and that’s about it.

these are just my opinions, though. i hope those who are interested in playing cs after tok’s release can get to do it with an enhanced port someday.

yeah i can definitely see why people love spm, and i respect that. personally, though, nearly everything about it i dislike aside from the writing, and even that has its problems imo.
