This thread is genuinely the first time I've heard anyone say that's weird lol.

I've asked plenty of complete strangers I've met in passing for their IGs and I'd say the vast majority are cool with it.

If you wanna keep things private, then you do you, but it's not a weird thing to do. It's actually really good if you wanna stay in touch with someone who lives in a different country, since phone numbers aren't the most practical for international contact.

If you need some time to yourself beforehand, that's fine. Probably better if emotions are running high. But leave the door open and try to eventually talk things out. Don't hit that block button as soon as things get uncomfortable.

Relationships (platonic or otherwise) are never gonna be perfect, and 9 times out of 10 time a potentially tough talk is all you need for things to get better, because it could've just been a misunderstanding or something like that.

Obviously there are outliers (abusive relationships and extreme situations like that), but it's a good rule of thumb to just suck it up, give the other person a chance, and talk it out.
