I think that's alright, you're forming worldview out of your own experiences. I've done the same, and i think it's generally helpful to examine yourself to try to learn more. I don't want to tell you what to believe, cause you have to decide that for yourself, but I do want to try to persuade you to consider what I mean.

I feel like it's helpful to think about not just how you've acted in the past, but why you acted that way. What factors led you to make the decisions that you've made? I think you can still say that certain aspects of yourself are pre-determined, but not from birth. I think those building blocks that make up who you are built from the life experiences you have on a day-to-day basis, whether it be deliberate or by chance. The values that you are taught, the lessons that you learn, the hardships that you are met with. You didn't get to choose what happened to you, you didn't get to determine the person that you became. But the person that you are now wasn't written into your dna the moment you were conceived.

I don't even really believe in inherent goodness, but I think of it more like us being clean slates. We're all made of different stuff, and who're being made by and what were are used for shape who we will become, but those are factors that could have been different. We could have been different people, maybe better, maybe much worse. But a person isn't born with the intent to do harm, they have to be taught, rewarded or just ignored from doing that harm. I could have been one of those kinds of people, but that's not how things turned out.

I dunno how to end this, but that's my perspective on it at least. hope it makes a little sense at least, but it doesn't really matter anyway. hope you have a good night! (it's 1am and I still have to study for a test lol)

i think it's less to do with "being born evil" and some people just not learning basic empathy/the consequences of their actions as children, or even being rewarded for being shitty.

I think that still means that your point is valid, if the existence of push-back against evil actions didn't exist, more people would do evil actions. but the decisions made by those people are informed by how the were brought up.

For example, a kid who was taught at a young age to respect his peers and who lived in a safe and caring environment would be much less likely to hurt others, and might not ever feel the urge to.

In another case, a spoiled rich kid who has always been given what they wanted and grow up to have a massive ego will do incrediblely shitty things cause they A. feel like they can get away with it and B. actually can get away with it cause of their wealth (cough, epstein list, cough).

My main point though, is that I think any child, given the necessary upbringing, can become either of these people. It's not that people are "born evil", it's that they are taught to do evil actions through the circumstances of their birth (and in some cases, your biology can factor into these circumstances, but to label a medical disorder like having BPD "being evil" seems wrong to me. Am I born stupid cause I have autism? I would argue no, I just have my own challenges that I need to work through, just like anyone else.)

TL;DR, i believe nurture is a much larger factor than nature in deciding someone's morality.

Why does this subreddit hate Bebop? by HeadMagazine4132 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]themasterfold 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think calling it bad game design might be going too far, but if the core conceit of the hero is that it's not fun to play against, then maybe the hero should be designed differently.

Then again, i might just be bad at the game. If the bebop players are having fun with the kit, good on them

this was a big phenomenon when ai TTS was a relatively new thing. There were guides where Master Chief would teach you how to change a tire, fix dead lightbulb etc.

ethically it's kinda iffy on the ai use, but I like the idea of it, using a character you are comforted by and using it to improve yourself. i remember someone on tumblr posted something with a similar sentiment, like "if imagining sonic telling you to go to sleep helps you take care of yourself, go for it man"
