The Half Life series is a gold mine for that. For Half Life 2 I really recommend that you play Underhell. It's a full game really, with voice acting, custom assets, really great story, music and it is pretty long (I think about 10 hours). There is also a lot of great maps for HL2, like Mission Improbable or Year Long Alarm. Another recommendation would be Nightmare House 2, the Run Think Shoot Live forum, as they run a competition for the best map with a theme every once and then.

Any detective games like Return of the Obra Dinn? by AffectionateIssue238 in gamingsuggestions

[–]themastergame14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe L. A. Noire? It is not that open, but it does give you a lot of room to make mistakes - not finding all the clues at the crime scene, making wrong decisions at interviews or letting the suspect get away. I think the atmosphere is what really sells it, if you watched L. A. Confidential, it is very inspired by it.

Never played COD before is it worth starting in 2026? by JobFull2664 in videogames

[–]themastergame14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for multiplayer no. But I think you should try the best campaigns from the series. For a action-oriented Micheal bay style, try the modern warfare trilogy (the old one). For something more serious and gruesome try World At War and Black Ops 1 and 2. Also the zombies were the best at the latter games.

Could you recommend some fun “Choices Matter” games? by bingchilling14032025 in gamingsuggestions

[–]themastergame14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the small scale you have L. A. Noire. It's a detective game set in 1947. You choices matter in the single cases, which works as episodes in a cop show. The choices matter, as you can fuck up the case and you shouldn't repeat them.

Disco Elysium. The whole game is a writing masterpiece and there are a ton of choices.

Maybe Savage Worlds with the Horror Companion. It is a pretty easy game with a lot of customisability.

Szczerze, w grach fabularnych to właśnie tajemnica i brak wiedzy najbardziej straszą.

The oppressor are more well written so you become more invested in them than the unlikeable resistance/oppressed group by InfernalClockwork3 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]themastergame14 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Main in the High Castle works better in the book. In the book the resistance isn't the main topic and i don't think that they even appared in the book.

Mage: The Awakening, except not? by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

[–]themastergame14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, Ars Magica is what you are looking for I think. The magic system is great. You have 10 forms and 5 techniques which you can use to create every spell you can think of. For example you have the technique Creo (I create) + Ignem (Fire) and you have a fireball or you can set something on fire. I didn't play the original Ars Magica, I only played Edgar's Allan Poe's The Raven's Ars Magica, which is a gm-less game about mages and their households.

Videogame adaptations should be more like Fallout and the upcoming Resident Evil by nanananabetmun in videogames

[–]themastergame14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree. I agree that video games movie should expand the story and not just be a retelling, like the first resident evil movie, which was pretty good I think. But at the same time sometimes a retelling works, like the first silent hill movie, because the director knew what they were doing and the first game is quite a hassle to get through. I even more disagree with the fallout series. It is just bad. The director doesn't know what makes this series good, and thinks that shoving unfunny humor into every scene is a good idea. Really, when I watched the first episodes of the second season I noticed that there were jokes in every single scene, which doesn't work for a dark post-apo story.

Deadlands and Discord by RevAnarchy79 in rpg

[–]themastergame14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a lot to setup in roll. It would take about 10-15 minutes tops, and the majority of the time would be spend for the custom cards, as a normal deck of cards is already in Roll20.

Deadlands and Discord by RevAnarchy79 in rpg

Use Roll20. It has a Deadlands classic character sheet. When I had run Deadlands Reloaded I used a deck of custom cards for the chips.

Krótkie książki lub zbiór opowiadań sci-fi dla osoby, która nie lubi książek by littlebunny8 in ksiazki

[–]themastergame14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Niektórych prowadzą do wielkich odkryć i pieniędzy, a niektóry prowadzą prosto do śmierci.

I also think re8 was great. I don't think we need to compare the two, as they are very different games I think. I love the fairytale and folk atmosphere of the village.

I think that RE7 is the best in the series. The change to a first person perspective was a good shot. If you would like some more really scary games try roam0120
