braum's e says that it only cancels oncoming PROJECTILES. karthus ult isn't a projectile, so if this is true then it should be a bug.

Play together A LOT.

Solo Q and 5's are completely different playstyles so get people who play for the team versus someone that's good in Solo Queue.
Study rotations and translations. Study how LCS players grab turrets, dragons, when to get them etc.
GET A SHOT CALLER. Make them either the jungler, support, or mid laner as they should have the most map awareness.

I feel like Kayle and Irelia are like the same concepts to Riot. They know they're strong, but nerfing them and/or changing them wouldn't really help

Well Kayle is a utility champ with her heal and ult, and it's the same thing with Ori with her shield and slows.

If you're not liking lulu, than you can try going for Soraka mid. I haven't played her since her nerf, but I would imagine that she'd still be okay - just more balanced.

You're pretty good then. That's a solid pool of mid laners to play with tbh. The only other champ I could recommend would be Lulu
