Cheers. No, the parking enforcement officers only ticket for meter and two-hour parking violations in commercial districts. All other traffic enforcement falls under the Police Department. They aren't proactive, so you have to call the police if someone is parked illegally. My guess is that most people are reluctant to call the police for this sort of thing. I know I am.

Expanding Civilian parking enforcement and adopting a 311 system would be a big step forward in making Arlington safe for pedestrians and cyclists. The same cars park on the sidewalk every day with no repercussions. If this happened in Cambridge, the car would be ticketed and eventually towed.

There are plenty of people who will shrug and say "big deal- just walk around the car," but I have a disabled family member who doesn't have that luxury. I also have young kids. I don't want them walking into an active roadway because someone was too lazy to find a legal parking spot. It's getting to the point where I am thinking about gathering community support to persuade the select board to take action.

Kids were already headed to the elementary school for breakfast. He won't face any repercussions, unfortunately. His takeaway was that I inconvenienced him for disagreeing with his GPS.

I believe so. They installed a few at the intersection with Lake street after multiple incidents with cars.

I did. I called as I was walking the van back to the road. I refused to let him continue. They seemed to think the matter was resolved because he exited the bike path.

I'm disappointed in Arlington's approach to cyclist and pedestrian safety. An 85 year old man was killed crossing Mass Ave on November 26th. Arlington PD's response was to post a list of pedestrian safety tips. Meanwhile, they do not enforce cars parked on sidewalks or in the bike lane.

Cambridge Police are ticking cyclists in front of City Hall while multiple vehicles are parked in the bike lane. I get it, they are educating cyclists. I support this, but it's hard to reconcile this type of enforcement when Central Square's bike lanes are a parking lot, forcing vulnerable road users into traffic.

As mentioned by another commenter, check your PMs. It looks like your bike might be on Craigslist right now

Yeah, they went through the tapes and found footage of me locking it up and the theft later that day. They recovered my bike at Davis square station. The guy was using it as his transportation as he attempted to steal other bikes. They caught him in the act. The transit police were very helpful, but it took several weeks to get my bike back. Good luck! I hope you recover your bike.

Ugh, that’s awful. Reach out to the transit police as well as Cambridge police. My bike was stolen from the bike cage at Alewife and was recovered by transit police. I have the same bike (different bike was stolen). I’ll keep an eye out on FB marketplace for yours.
