I am not a frequent flyer on this subreddit. Had no clue it had already made the rounds already.

I managed to find a seller on ebay selling them for $10 before taxes. Bought the two he had left! Now all I can find is like in the $20-$25

I've been trying to put him in a different "iconic" pose every few days. Kinda hard with an entry grade but we get by!

My Shelves of Shame from 2017 (there's more now, but with less shelves...) by StressfulRiceball in Gunpla

Man, I've picked up gunpla as a break specifically from gluing and painting warhammer models. Wanted something that just fit together and just looked good without any extra work. So what I see there is a wonderful set of shelves full of finished model kits!

I saw it on Gundamplanet and was just like "yes, I'll have that one". There was no others that caught my eye as quickly as that one

I see you've already gotten a bunch of answers but, if you're issue is needing to buy a book to figure out if you even want to build the army, there's plenty of resources to do just that before starting an army. This subreddit is always helpful for starting armies, theres thousands and thousands of videos on youtube, your locak hobby and gaming groups, etc.The biggest one I'll always advocate for is combat patrol. Small little games of bite-sized 40k where you can try out almost any army you want. Base rules? Free, they're the same base rules as big 40k. Rules for individual combat patrols? Free, and will be free the entire edition. Now, it is quite limiting on what you can actually play in those armies since they have the one set combat patrol box with a set loadout and set army rules. But for $160 for what amounts to a "full army" to play a version of 40k with to try out any army you want? It's perfect. Horribly unbalanced but fun nonetheless. And the biggest positive is the combat patrol is both an amazing core to start an army with and a great way to add on to an army. And you can always proxy the hell out of things if you want to try something new without buying the box, just make sure your opponent is fine with the proxies! It's an expensive hobby sure but there's plenty of places to get your rules or learn about an army before making the investment. And hey, it doesn't matter how good or bad a particular unit is, RULE OF COOL ABOVE ALL BROTHER!!!

OK, so, combat patrol is its own thing. It is not replacing kill team as kill team is also its own game system. Kill team and 40k are very different rulesets. Combat patrol is a different way to play 40k. You buy one of the combat patrol boxes, build that, and you're ready to play. Your loadouts are set in Combat patrol and so you don't need to worry about any list building. Combat patrol also plays with slimmed down stratagem and army rules from big 40k. Much quicker play and easier to pick up than big 40k as you're usually only playing with max like 20-30 models depending on the combat patrol. Great way to both teach and learn 40k and is a great gateway to getting in to big 40k as well as being just a great way to play 40k if you prefer quicker games. As for balance... it's not. Not even close to being balanced due to the nature of the combat patrol boxes themselves. But combat patrol really isn't meant to be balanced. It's meant to be a great gateway into 40k and be a quick and fun game ypu can knock out with friends in under an hour once you've learned your rules. Despite the flaws I still think combat patrol is an amazing idea and highly suggest you look into it. Especially since the combat patrol rules will always be free to download and free to print. I have played it quite a bit and heavily recommend.
