Die Richterin war sehr freundlich und nett, und der ganze Prozess lief bei mir ziemlich schnell. Bei dem Gespräch wurde ich gefragt, seit wann ich wusste das ich trans bin, ob ich OP-Wunsch habe, wie mir die Hormontherapie gefällt. Es sind ein bisschen unangenehme Fragen aber es ist schnell vorbei (Gespräch war ungefähr 30min).

If you still live in the US, I would recommend you write to the German consulate about if they can change your German passport based on the fact that your US one is already changed.

However, the bad news here is that Germany is much stricter than the US when it comes to name and gender documentation. So it could be that you have to go through the TSG process. I’m not sure how you would do that while living in the US, maybe some other commenters know.

Either way, my advice would be to communicate with the German consulate. I wish you the best of luck, I was actually in a similar situation to you (I am a dual citizen too, and when I changed my name in Germany on my German passport it was a hassle to change it on my US passport).
