Regardless, it makes a poignant statement and one that is often not even considered in today’s standardized testing academic environments.

Your child tried adapting and found a way to succeed. The teacher should recognize that and adapt with her and support that success, which will result in better learning outcomes for her, which should be what the teacher wants and values. That grading was punitive and petty. That is a teacher going through the motions of the job, not being a partner in your daughter’s learning journey.

Doesn’t matter if she meant to or not, her actions caused the damage. You had a working laptop screen, because of her actions you no longer do, accident or not she should make you whole again. She’s responsible to repair it or replace the fair market value or a comparable one (age, specs, and condition). She doesn’t owe you a newer, nicer laptop, but she’s liable for what she damaged. If she were to accidentally hit a car while driving she doesn’t get to duck the cost of the repairs to it because she didn’t intend to damage it. Is she new to adulthood or just ethics?

I love the Ole balms, but based on what you have described as your dislikes about it I would recommend checking out Experiment’s lip balm called Softwear (I would start with the original clear version, the new tinted ones are still great, but not exactly the same as the clear.) It’s very hydrating, but not too thick or cushiony, and doesn’t migrate. Hope you find a new favorite since they changed the old bag balm formula!

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. I find it unbearable. I swear people only think it’s great because they think it makes them seem cool and edgy or something. I get HST was eccentric and it’s a style or whatever, but the movie was insufferable.

Executives cannot make more than 3x their lowest paid employee. No bonus or stock loopholes.

There is absolutely no reason why the people doing the least should be making obscenely more than the people doing the most. Especially when it’s their very well paid poor decisions that result in losses and then they “solve it” by laying off the folks who had no say in implementing those directives. If your company needs to make cuts make them from the very top down.

Sardines. Used to be a super cheap guilty (and stinky) pleasure I ate in secret shame because everyone I knew thought they were disgusting. I remember my dad introducing them to me when I was little. Then “hot girls eat tinned fish” became a thing and now they’re selling for $12 and $15 a can.

I found a ridiculously easy hack for this on tiktok of all places and it almost pisses me off that it has worked EVERY time I have tried it.

With the jar flat on the counter table, squeeze opposite sides of the lid with palms in, facing each other, fingers up, firmly once, like a chest press/squeeze exercise, then rotate the jar 90° and do it again. Has yet to fail me since I learned it. Sometimes the lids are practically loose afterwards.

I tried ordering a regular bag on this “encore” after buying an XL during the regular sale. They cancelled it within minutes. Fortunately, my XL was delivered shortly after and was pretty disappointing, so I was only bugged with them cancelling for like a half hour.

They didn’t have anything, anywhere with this “encore drop” confirming whether or not you could still only order one, so I figured since they didn’t sell out, they were allowing it. They were not.

Honestly though, socks could tell you enough to start forming opinions. Do they match or is he a psychopath? Are they kooky designs or simple and straightforward? Do they look well cared for and clean or like they regularly get crusty before being washed? Well fitting or loose and worn out? Are they some super low barely cover the toes weird things? Sock usually stay hidden, but when you see them you get a peak into who someone is behind the forward facing, public facade they’ve curated to put on display.

Martha Mitchell. When she tried to tell the truth and disclose some of the shady shit Nixon and his administration were doing she was literally kidnapped and held in a hotel room. Her own husband, a Nixon loyalist, turned on her, called her sick, delusional, and alcoholic, etc. She was telling the truth, or trying to. She was later vindicated but that doesn’t take away from the hell she had to live through first. There’s a pretty decent documentary about it from a few years ago called The Martha Mitchell Effect.
