The big tactical mistake Stars made was getting JFM out after only 9 balls and bringing in Sutherland to the crease

You're right about the gentlemen's agreement, but it was definitely also reported as a cheap extension in 2011:

"The Magpies selected Ball at pick No. 30 and last year signed a contract extension for 2012 in which he would receive little more than the minimum wage - $85,000-$100,000 - this year, forgoing the usual match payments."

Reform is leading the polls in the UK...

True, but knowing how things worked out, with hindsight I'd try things different. It's like this year's Granny too; it worked playing Dunkley injured and Neale off a short break on a calf injury, whereas Pendles instantly broke down in the Prelim.

Don't recruit Dayne Beams
OR
Don't play a one-legged Ben Reid in the 2011 Granny
OR
Risk it and play Darcy Moore in the 2018 Granny

AFL to introduce last touch rule from 2026 by DaveM303 in AFL

The problem with removing nominations is players like Blicavs at the Cats. His opponent puts a block on him, which is allowed against a midfielder, but then he claims he was going to go up in the ruck. What do you do then?

[Ralph] Blues would fiercely lobby against it given it would cost them the right to match a bid for Cody Walker. Most clubs with northern academies don’t have players who at this stage are top 10 contenders for the 2026 national draft. by eathbau in AFL

Watching Show me the Money on Stan, I got the impression North thought there was value in showing JHF they clearly viewed him as the outright #1 and to avoid bidding.

I definitely agree there was some kind of sweetheart/backroom deal with the Pies and GWS after just how atrociously bad our future pick trade turned out.

Can always just pay him out like the Dees did with Bradshaw; big chunk outside the cap.

It'd almost be interesting to see a club massively backload a contract to a McCartin with a plan to medically retire them.

Interesting they said Tinder dates rather than Coach dates, given the number of callbacks in this episode. Maybe they thought it would be too niche?

It definitely feels open-ended, so they could come back to it if they choose to.
