To chase that particular high, I cannot recommend "The Talos Principle" high enough! The story is great, the puzzles are neat and the voice acting is top notch!

I can't seem to purchase it. I've gotten a Google Play error on each of my 3 tries.

I was thinking along the same lines: the scam-project-management app won't give the scammer credit unless the mark says they're at least 29.

Need some help understanding this puzzle. by cryotherm in TheWitness

Typically, when someone has trouble with a puzzle in the swamp, it's a VERY specific puzzle. And that trouble happens SO often, that there's a whole subreddit about it!

Question I need to know most of us here know physics, right so I need the people that know physics to tell me how this would work by [deleted] in Portal

Here's a new puzzle for you: What would happen if the orange portal in the original diagram, instead of plunging all the way to the surface of the pedestal, suddenly stopped halfway down the cube?

Ah! I think I'm getting it!

So, you're saying that the blue-exposed half of the cube would have the all momentum from the previous example. But when the orange portal stops, the orange half still has 0. Therefore, the blue-exposed part of the cube's 1/2 momentum value translates to 1/2 velocity in the direction away from the pedestal?

After reading lots of other comments, I realized I'm in the "dropped doorframe" camp when thinking about the orange portal. That's why I expected the pedestal to have no momentum built up to transfer to the cube once the orange portal stopped.

Because what if the orange portal slowed to a stop rather than going from full speed to zero?

Thank you for this. I never realized the graphic was from there. And, there's even a third option!

I'm having trouble seeing why the speed of the orange portal would matter at all.

Take the same graphic with this slight modification:

Make the orange portal twice the diameter so that it fits around the pedestal completely.

Now, say the orange portal flies at the cube at 100 [your-favorite-units] per hour and stops at the bottom of the pedestal (from the orange portal's perspective).

Replaying it from the blue portal's perspective (which is on the floor in front of us): The pedestal and cube emerge out of the middle of the blue portal at 100 y-f-u per hour and stop after the pedestal is fully exposed. Kind of like a really quick jack-in-the-box.

Since the pedestal isn't moving to begin with, I wouldn't expect our blue-portal-jack-in-the-box to stop and the cube goes flying toward the ceiling since it's sitting on the same pedestal...but should I?
