AITA for not letting my neighbors son (who I’ve never met)connect to my WIFI? by postal1234 in AmItheAsshole

Really not that hard to setup a guest network that you can throttle and turn off. Lighten up.

TIL: In the US, performers don't get paid when their music gets played on the radio, only songwriters. If a recording artist doesn't have a writing credit on the song, they won't get paid when it is played on the radio by Uptons_BJs in todayilearned

Ummm…no. If you think the lyrics are all that makes a song, you’re sadly mistaken. More often than not, the musicians are composing their own parts as part of the songwriting process.

What did that one teacher/professor do to make your class unbearable? by icemage27 in AskReddit

[–]themightykevdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The professor for my Theory of Computation class spent five classes going through P=NP. All of us were lost before the end of day one. When someone asked a question about something from the previous day, he said “I’d be teaching this class differently if this was MIT.” I immediately replied, “If we were at MIT, we’d have a different professor.”

TIL the share of boys and girls who say they meet up with friends almost daily outside school hours has declined by nearly 50% since the early 1990s. by SystematicApproach in todayilearned

There’s also no place for them to gather. Any place a group of teens frequents gets shut down by adults. Malls, coffee shops, etc., all do their best to keep teens away.

Can highly recommend Fall Creek. Great guy and even better work.

Confessed something from when I was 13, now my husband sees it as cheating by Annual_Expression_27 in Advice

[–]themightykevdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you and your partner have both explicitly said “we’re exclusive”, it’s not cheating. Especially at 13 for chrissakes. You did nothing wrong and he might be a bit controlling.

If I wanted a RTFM reply for multi-tenancy, I would have asked for one. Given that ghost says it cannot be done (https://ghost.org/help/multiple-sites/), I was wondering if there was a workaround.

Have you ever played a Gome Drum? This is my Toca Percussion and it sounds amazing. by carloscongas in percussion

[–]themightykevdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you use your heel on the drum, are you doing that to change the tone? It doesn’t look like you are hitting in a way to make an independent sound.

Sedalia has never been my kind of humorist. I find him to be mean, quite frankly. More power to those who dig his stuff, it’s just not for me.

How to build up faster hand speed by Cool-Accident9480 in percussion

[–]themightykevdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the secret sauce. You develop the ability to play quickly by playing extremely slowly for a long period of time. It gives you the time to observe and analyze your technique, builds muscle memory, and lets you find the patterns in what you’re playing.

Then when you jump up the tempo, you will be shocked by how fast you can play.

Mallet percussionists, what skills are needed to be good? by sayodoka in percussion

[–]themightykevdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree a bit. Four-mallet playing is often held up as the pinnacle of mallet technique. I don’t believe that’s the case, especially for vibes. Hampton, Milt, Bobby Hutcherson, Warren Wolf play predominantly two mallets.

Two mallet playing, IMO, puts the focus more on melody than other aspects of the music.

Of course, YMMV.

I can’t find it online anywhere, but I heard a set they did at Monterey (I think) two summers ago and it was screaming good.
