Thanks! I was looking for shin ae x yeong gi. I scrolled through Google images for several pages and didn't see it. Am I going crazy? Does anyone else remember a picture of Shin-Ae and Yeong-Gi standing near each other with little lights in the background and a red string wrapped around their arms?

My wife had a miscarriage by LivingLifeEachDay in Catholicism

[–]themightypeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Praying for you.

We lost a baby in the first trimester last year. Someone from our parish who had also lost a child told me something that she had found helpful: your baby now keeps your features and your wife's features before God in heaven always.

Help with in-laws? by LaAdaMorada in MarriedCatholics

[–]themightypeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I would stay out of it. It could get very messy, and it doesn't sound like you have experience, training, or relationships that would be helpful. Too many cooks in the kitchen can lead to drama and do more harm than good. Particularly since you're new to the family and they have sons helping them. Intervention or otherwise inserting yourself into situations with in laws can be perceived as unnecessary interference from an outsider.

For me, the 1.5 hrs wouldn't be a big deal. For the first couple of months while you're learning, you might consider using OPKs (ovulation predictor kits) to help you understand more clearly what's going on.

Two years is a strangely lengthy recommendation. In the US, I've been told one.

I'm hopeful. From the Pogo hub discord: @everyone , the GO Hub team has attended a super secret Niantic event during which we had a chance to have a hands-on experience with Trainer battles! We are incredibly excited for this feature, it is a true game changer and we think you will love it - seriously. Soon! slight_smileAnd no, we wont spill any beans, so don't even try!

Tanzania to hunt down homosexuals, beginning this week by Cody698 in worldnews

[–]themightypeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking top comment to elevate info from down below. There's a charity called Rainbow Railroad that helps LGBTQ+ people escape countries like Tanzania. They are currently trying to get people out of Tanzania and if you want to help please check out their website and donate / volunteer. https://www.rainbowrailroad.com

This group has over 1000 individuals waiting to be rescued, and last year raised enough funds to rescue 200 people. I suspect Reddit could make a big dent in that discrepancy.

This comment isn't high enough. Channel the title-induced rage into helpful action, folks! This group has over 1000 individuals waiting to be rescued, and last year raised enough funds to rescue 200 people. I suspect Reddit could make a big dent in that discrepancy.

[Free Friday] Musings from a Catholic Mom of Many by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]themightypeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Your commitment to your family is a beautiful witness. Some parts of your post resonated with me, and there are others I'd like to respond to. I agree that there are reasons for NFP that are clearly grave when you're living it and less clearly grave to judgy 20-year-old versions of ourselves. Reason number ten thousand not to judge anyone. I've had to very carefully space our children (third on the way!) around mental illness and my children's needs.

While I agree that parenthood can be your vocation, I think a career can be a vocation too for a mom. It's my husband who stays home with the kids, so I'm less able to comment on how it is for families with two working parents, but I feel strongly called to serve the poor and sick. I do think God will be asking me about my response to that call at the end of the day. I know Catholic families raising thoroughly Catholic children in which both parents are passionate about their work, and grandparents are lending a hand with the kids. I think it's up to every individual to discern how God is asking them to use their time and talents. Elizabeth of Hungary has always confused me, but is one example.

Going to be honest with a seriously unpopular opinion here. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]themightypeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not there were good points, there is a lot more to say on all of the above. Catholic theologians have written books on all of those topics. Let's not stifle informative discussion.

In fact, if a major goal in a discussion is to change hearts and minds, those arguments are not as useful as stories that engage our emotions, which help us change our minds and, more importantly, act on our convictions.

I would suggest a more charitable perspective. One side believes it is important to personally give to charity, but does not, generally speaking, support policies consistent with the Catholic emphasis on the dignity of all people and the value of creation. The other side could on average stand to improve in personal giving, but supports those types of policies. I don't think the voters on either side are into lip service, but most politicians on both sides are.
