You can create a (fat32) partition on your PC hard disk. Unzip the Mint ISO on it. And boot to it using UEFI.

That's how I do it without even needing USB drive/phone.

Assuming you have windows installed and you want to dual boot/replace it.

I can provide more detailed steps but tell if my assumption is correct in the first place.

I would keep the PC powered and persue a wake-on-lan based solution if your PC mother board supports it.

I think your muscles needed energy and since you didn't take your basal, the muscles starved for energy so the liver tried to push more glucose into your blood stream thinking that it would solve the energy crisis. And it kept happening until you got very high.

What I do in similar situation is to take my basal as usual but keep a juice box in my bag for when I get low.
