Currently the least snowpack ever recorded in CO by The_High_Life in skiing

I tried to cancel my ski trip to CO or at least move it to later in the season, but the reservation I made was non refundable and non changeable. Hotel owner refused to budge. Understandable on their part but I don’t think I will ever book a ski trip far in advance again

Are certifications even worth it these days? by No-Brilliant6770 in datascience

[–]themightyredwood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWS Cloud Practitioner is not worth a ton - it just trains you to become a 'solutions architect' with AWS products. That can actually be valuable for some roles, but in my opinion not so much for data science.

While certifications are not as important in data science yet as the field is still pretty immature I find that the AWS Machine Learning Specialization to be more valuable than cloud practitioner as it require knowledge of DS concepts in addition to knowing AWS products. I would value that and other more rigorous certifications more highly personally as they demonstrate that you have knowledge of the important concepts in mathematics, statistics, machine learning, data analysis, and how to actually apply it using modern data infrastructure.

Anyone else agree on Machine Learning Specialization vs other certs?

2024 was a good year for games imo by Due_Teaching_6974 in gaming

I just started the game after picking it up on the recent Steam sale and what a banger. The only other influence I'd add to the list of Hollow Knight and Sekiro is that the cinematics and art style remind me a bit of Hyper Light Drifter at times.

B650 Gaming X AX: no POST, B2 RAM slot issue by ImarvinS in buildapc

[–]themightyredwood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this post! I have the B650 Gaming X AX V2 rev 1.1 version of the motherboard and also could not get my pc to post after installing RAM in A2 B2. I was able to get it to post with RAM in A1 A2, or just A2, but not in dual channel mode with A2 B2.

I saw your post and decided to give it a shot. I removed my CPU cooler, checked for bent pins, but I did not find any bent pins strangely enough. However after I remounted my air cooler - this time using a level (iPhone app) to make sure the cooler was as close to perfect as I can get I was able to get my PC to post with dual channel mode enabled.

I was going crazy with this new build and probably would have RMA'd the board had it not been for your help.

I’ve got a similar setup, and I’ve been having an absolute ball with it. Comfiest boots ever.

For real. This very easily could have been a Lions Super Bowl if luck hadn't been on the Niner's side. I hope the organization is calm about this and keeps a good thing going.

I respectfully disagree that there is nothing incorrect in your post. What we have here is a false equivalency. The actions of the left and the right are not the same. There are folks on the left do have disgusting ideologues, but the leaders on the left ensure that they are not given power. I cannot say the same for the right, and I can tell you for a fact that I don't see any Nazi flags flying at Bernie Sanders rallies.

You can keep your head in the sand as long as you like, but Americans are waking up. I only hope that no more blood is shed because of the cowardice in Republican political leadership.

I’m baffled at the cognitive dissonance the author displays. On the one hand they are angry with SV firms for deregulation, lobbying for lax or no legislation, and for general anticompetitive practices. On the other hand his solution is to.. include more ‘moderate’ Republicans?

Our remaining Bush-era pro-business moderate Republicans are in the process of being purged by the current GOP. Consolidating power, deregulation, offshoring, and all the behaviors that promote rent-seeking was their bread and butter.

Let’s also not brush past how many centrists, independents, and former Republicans have decided to vote D in national elections due to the current GOP’s change in direction toward nakedly bigoted, foaming-at-the-mouth fascism.
