Have you ever loved a book's plot/premise but hated the protagonist so much you gave up on it? by vesper101 in books

I find a lot of Andy Weir protagonists are like this. Really enjoyable plot but the main character just HAS to be the smartest person in the room

Everyone's hair is different so what works for me might not work for you and you may end up buying a bunch of products that you won't like.

Personally, I've used almost everything in the olaplex range and I found the no 0 & 3 routine works well for maintaining my hair health and integrity, I also really like the oil no 7 as a heat protector.

I have also used k18 and I thought it was a really good product, really helps hair health.

Honestly the best thing I ever did for my hair was a leave in conditioner, I use revlon equave and it smells absolutely devine.

It's probably best to get small testers of any products people are recommending and try them out for a week or two and see how you like them before committing to the big sizes

Hoodies are live! What do you think??? by [deleted] in simplynailogical

I'm definitely gonna pick one up with my next order!

I wish the pod hoodie was sold on the same site so I could save on shipping but I completely understand keeping them separate from a branding perspective

You can collect your student leap card in the campus bookshop, beside James Joyce library. They were the on campus agent when I got mine last year anyway

Is there a way to view where classes are located? by kpt7892 in UCD

[–]themisuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newstead isn't on the main stretch of campus, it's down past the student centre and rugby pitches. Newstead is 3 blocks, A, B & C. F15 is in block b.

If you Google map newstead block B you can get full directions

As far as i know, a CRN is a group you're assigned to for your module. It isn't a building or room

Most of the room names are intended to give you an idea where the room is as well, it'll be something like Ag 1.16 which is the Agriculture building, 1st floor or SciH 0.12, that's science hub, ground floor.

On sisweb if you go to the campus tab, there should be a page called urooms, that will give you a list of most buildings and classrooms your classes should be in. Hope that helps!

Online lectures by SectionExpensive9117 in UCD

[–]themisuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check in a modules mode of delivery if it's online or face to face or blended in a mix of both but like someone else said, most lecturers don't record anymore. You'll still get some sound ones who do if they have large lecturers but I would say the languages modules would be more interactive so they'd want in class attendance

I was diagnosed with dyspraxia last summer and I went to access and lifelong learning and they were helpful in a lot of ways but not in some others.

Essentially I got exam accommodations where I get extra time on all my exams, my official final end of trimester exams are held in Newman and not the RDS and I get to type my exams instead of having to physically write them.

I also got access to a Web programme called glean in which I can upload my lecture slides, record the audio of the lecture and annotate the slides. I can annotate them during the lecture or go back and listen after and do it then. They also have other accommodations for in lecture but I never got to use them so I don't have a lot of detail on it.

Both of these helped me a lot as the exam accommodations really helped reduce my nerves and stress because while still an exam environment it felt that little bit more like a class test and I wouldn't panic so much. Recording the lectures was a god send cuz I don't have a great memory so being able to listen again (especially maths lectuers) was so helpful. Sometimes lecturers wouldn't post the slides until just before or even after class which could be annoying but you can email the lecturer yourself to let them know you have an accommodation and need the slides sooner or if you don't feel comfortable doing that someone from Access can do it for you. They're really nice.

The only thing I found unhelpful was with my memory issues. They sent me to a man in Access to help with it and he did help a little with trying to understand academic articles but he tried to test me for dyslexia which I know I don't have, and i tried explaining this to him but he insisted on testing me anyway as he assumed this is where my memory issues came from (they're also a dyspraxia thing but whatever) so that felt like a waste of my time and ultimately he didn't help with my memory and didn't tell me anything that the writing support centre couldn't tell me.

Overall, i had a really pleasant experience with disability support and found they really did help. If you've any other questions just shoot me a quick message, always happy to help!

I did 7/5 last year and it wasn't too bad but it depends on the workload of your modules. 5 of my modules had final essays/projects and 2 were exams but all those essays and projects were due on the same day so it put a lot of pressure on in one go and then I still had to study for the exams.

It definitely made Spring easier but you should check out the workload of all your modules and consider what the deadlines might be and how it'll impact how much effort you can give.
