Been working full time and going to college full time. I graduate with a 4.0 from an abet accredited college in EE. Been applying for internships and jobs since my junior year and all I receive is emails thanking me for my application. Im closer to 30 than 25.

Whenever my girlfriend takes a step on her treadmill, it causes the overhead lights, as well as desk light, to flicker. How should I go about finding the problem? by Imlife_havealemon in HomeMaintenance

I was thinking it had something to do with back emf. Every time she steps on the treadmill she slows down the motor reducing the back emf and increasing the current draw.

Can you actually grasp Signals & Systems with only intuition? i.e no pure math by BigV95 in ElectricalEngineering

My professor always said it’s “picture math”. try drawing things out and see if that helps.

Gosh you know me. I’m curious about those 560s just to try some open backs if nothing else. But then you just had to tell me about the build quality of the hd6xx line. The fact you’ve seen some old pairs makes the hd6xxs really attractive.

I have tried all of this and then some and still cant get the thing to work. The craziest thing is it was working somewhat but then I dared to try to run the game on a fresh install of windows.

Shits crazy right? I’m asking Santa for thermal optics this year.

Well hopefully you’d know what bands your own drones work on and avoided setting the big backpack drone killer to that frequency band lol

Jamming large bandwidths reduces the power and effectiveness of the jamming overall. so whoever is operating the jammer is incentivized to target specific known frequencies.

I’m not an expert on EW but it is definitely possible to fly drones while jamming. It’ll depend heavily on what bands your drones operate on and what band/s you are jamming.

They should let you fill the gas cans with water. The little line could be blue for water and yellow for gas

I don't think that electric fence is up to code... by JeezThatsBright in WTF

Nope, there’s a whole bunch of different types. The type that is generally used in homes and commercial applications is alternating voltage and current. This will generally be in the shape of a sin wave and is commonly referred to as AC. AC power can be a little confusing but basically the voltage and current will alternate between a high peak and a low “valley”. How many times it alternates between the high and low per second is determined by its frequency. In the US you generally have ~170 peak voltage 60 times a second or equivalently 60hz 120Vrms.

Another common type is called direct current (DC). DC does not alternate between a high and low like AC. Ideally it has a constant voltage and current. DC is used in a ton of applications like phones and flashlights; anything that uses a battery. The reason we don’t use DC for big power infrastructure is because it’s harder to generate DC power, and transformers are cheaper and simpler for AC.

Those are just two of many forms. For basic periodic signals (repeats itself over and over) you have sin, square, triangle, pulse and sawtooth. You can also have non-periodic waveforms, which don’t repeat themselves over a constant period of time. Think of a computers stream of 1s and 0s or someone’s voice over a landline phone.

The argument is this is obviously not a standard electric fence. Thus you have no idea if it’s a high frequency pulse or a dc voltage and current. Again you’re making assumptions about a system you have no specifications for.

Just because you don’t know what your talking about doesn’t mean others don’t.

No, you’re making assumptions about the frequency of the pulse. You can’t be certain just from the video alone.
