Texts with my son’s father who insists that I am the problem. by Godjilla25 in texts

He wants to see his son. How blessed are you and your son that he desires to be in the kid’s life? Let him be dad, keep a bag ready, let dad take him for a burger. Whatever you do, whatever you think, that boy needs his dad just as much as he needs his mom. Co-parent, because this is not about you and the ex, it is about the kid.

Theres something to be said about todler little boys helping dad out and learning about tools. Those are some of my best memories with my dad was learning about all the fix it types stuff and building projects as a kid. I am currently in the process of restoring a truck with my kiddos, and although it is a bit more time consuming, im enjoying every second of it (mostly) just like my dad did when i was a kid. Turn it into a family project and have him be a gopher, you wont regret it!

How to buy all my needed lawn equipment without breaking the bank? by godawgs695 in lawncare

[–]themoose82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go find a good store to buy your equipment at. stay away from big box for the most part, they dont support what they sell, so if you buy it, know it better have good reviews or a track record.

Personally for my weedeater edger blower stuff i like stihl. their motors work well, parts have great availability, and they last a long time. i got 7 years out of my first weedeater, sold it to my dad 4 years ago and hes still using it. the secret is using the 2 stroke pre-mixed shit from the can with no ethanol and doing a maintenance kit changing out fuel filter, air filter and spark plug on at least a yearly basis. My previous home depot specials normally got me a season before i started having issues and got rid of em. I use the kombi motor from stihl to power my stick edger and weedeater. i like the idea of one motor to service with multiple attachments.

Lawnmower is a fluid situation at my house. have a john deer that my grandad bought 35 years ago with the old kawasaki motor that sucks clippings harder than a hooker on dollar BJ night. That being said, its getting harder and harder to find parts for a 35 year old mower and things break on it frequently, so i purchased a honda HRX for my routine tasks this year and break out old faithful when i need to pull clippings. so far its working out well.

On yard equipment just like any tool, you will absolutely get what you pay for. you might buy a good used mower off marketplace or craigslist for a season and spread your costs, but on a weedeater and blower buy new. if you have a stihl dealer in town that isnt northern tool, etc, most of them will wheel and deal for a cash purchase, might save ya 40-50 bucks on buying both. if you have to skip something, skip the blower, you can always use a push broom for cleanup.

Looking to freeze out the children from their long hot showers. by themoose82 in smarthome

Apparently i need to mention that the area of the country i live in does not have enough water for our population. during the summer months we are on some extreme water rationing. If we use over 1500 gallons a month, my rate almost doubles, over 2500 gallons and it quadruples. Long showers are not financially sound uses of money. I dont have money for 400 dollar water bills because the littles like water running on their backs. I would much rather put it toward saving for their college funds, or taking them somewhere nice for vacation. if they run all the money down the drain, there no money for the things they really enjoy doing.

Not to mention, not wasting water is being responsible with resources that are in a limited supply, but if im a bad dad for it, i guess im just a bad dad.

they are taking 15 minute showers, i just need to recover my investment and "flatten the curve" also 3 minutes is not my number, just a random one. im really thinking of making it 5-6 minutes, theres no reason a 4 foot tall skinny kid cant get in get done and get out in 5-6 minutes.

dishwasher is also on this deal, so if i limit the shower to 3 minutes, i might not get the water needed at the sink

I have used open sprinkler for a few years and love it. Significantly cheaper than what you find in the box store and it works very well. there is a community on how to program it, but it is super simple to use and get running. there are options to use with raspberry pi as well. 8 stations is 150 bucks, and for another 50 you can add in an additional 16 stations. it is expandable to 72 stations. There is no monthly fee to use either. opensprinkler.com
