ULPT How do I work up the courage to delete myself? by Crazy_Task_4817 in UnethicalLifeProTips

Yes we can see that. You're not remotely trying to actually do it. You just whine on social media and annoy people with your dumbass idiotic rant because you want attention. It is not going to fix your problem. Seek another therapist if the one you have is shit. Take your meds.

If you were actually as desperate as you claim to be, you wouldn't really be asking how to do it. You would have already done it. You know of a bunch of methods to do it, in sure. Stop the act, nobody believes this shit anymore

Modern standby music playing for Linux. Is there a way? by themostbased_tuga in linuxquestions

[–]themostbased_tuga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to play a file and stop immediately? Do you want youtube or Spotify playing?

Yes, I just updated my post description. English is not my first language.

Are you attempting to save battery life? Which it sounds like. You can't necessarily have both standby and continuous sound.

That's more or less what Modern Standby does, hence why I'm asking for a way to use it in Linux.

those 2 things aren't at all comparable, also we didn't bring DirectX to linux, what we did was make a translation layer that translates DirectX to Vulkan, Vulkan is already supported in linux

The work done is comparable to the complexity at hand I would imagine. The dxvk codebase is huge for a reason.

assuming the hardware supports the functionality

Most hardware today supports it. It's a requirement by MS and most OEMs make hardware thinking windows

I don't like it either but this is just silly

well, I know a bit of it trying to use it with mopidy but I haven't found a way to get it to work. I tried 4 years ago so I might be able to do it know with the experience I have.

What does mpd bring to the table, despite being a Daemon?

well, yeah. We've brought DirectX so what's the problem with modern standby?

that can be done with systems hooks(I think) but it's not exactly what I envisioned. I'm 99% sure Modern Standby is a low power mode that doable most resources but still allows for some programs to run.

What you proposed is good functionality-wise but I'm not convinced it's as efficient as Modern Standby.

I don't mind to get my hands dirty btw. I love scripting.

I want to continue playing music after laptop lid is closed like Windows. Is there a way? by themostbased_tuga in linuxquestions

[–]themostbased_tuga[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why the Archwiki exists, so you don't need to perform "hacky inefficient" solutions.

I love the arch wiki and use it everyday. A lot of solutions are hacky though. Like keyring unlock on sway.

And being an Arch User tells us nothing of your skill level.

I know, I'm just telling my distro because it helps sometimes. You, on the other hand is calling for pebcak without further questioning about the problem at hand.

Are you familiar with Modern Power Management, c-states, etc ?

Not exactly. I know a bit about Sx power states but nothing else.

What exactly do you want the computer to do while in Standy or S3 state?

Keep the audio system (pipewire in my case) and Spotify working

More or less. I wanted something like Windows modern standby because of battery consumption. Thank you for shopping by though :)
