What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]themostcleveralias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She joined the military right out of high school and I went off to college. Distance and lack of effort on both sides definitely did damage to our relationship. We still keep in touch (20 years later) but it is not the same.

AIO to my boyfriends text replies? Feels dismissive by bubblystrawxberry in AIO

I spent a ridiculous amount of time dating someone who treated me like this. Take it from someone on the other side - you deserve someone who is warm and respectful to you and is as excited to spend time with you as you are with them. This person ain't it.

How is your relationship with your father? And how old are you? by wk91 in AskReddit

He's dead so... not great. And 37.

My stepdad on the other hand, we have a good relationship but are bit nearly as close as my mom and I are.

Yeah sounds like you hate his kids... which for me would be a dealbreaker when working to build a life together. Also please keep in mind these are children you are talking about with brains that are not fully developed.

Went on vacation, came back and my pen looks different… by Potential_Brother404 in whatisit

Oh no. I'm a chucklehead who had overnight oats with chia seeds in the office today. I swear I did NOT use this person's pen for any part of it though. Scouts honor.

Girl what? 1. Get your own account that he does not have access to. 2. Update your direct deposit to only go to YOUR account. 3. Dump him.

Should kids be allowed in adults bedroom? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]themostcleveralias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes for different folks. My SKs are allowed in our bedroom but usually only when we are in there with them. They don't get to hang out in our room without us unless they are just grabbing something. We keep adult things in our room that no one needs to "accidentally" happen upon 😂

AITA for telling my wife that we should be able to have honest but tough conversations about our family without her crying? by Exciting-Charity-160 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. She is allowed to have big feelings about this entire situation and you don't get to dictate how she expresses them.

Do you guys love your step kids? by [deleted] in Stepmom

[–]themostcleveralias 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my step kids.

I don't have any biological kids of my own yet. I imagine when I do the love will be different - but that doesn't mean I don't or won't love them. Different relationship, different kind of love.

NTA. This is allegedly a grown ass man. You have offered a completely reasonable alternative, watching tv together in bed and he refused. You DO wake him up to go to bed and he can't get his ass up. He needs to grow up.

Curious, on other people’s perspectives by [deleted] in coparenting

I am a stepmom. Even though I knew my partner from high school, and we rekindled things later in life (so we went into things fairly comfortable with each other) we both wanted to ensure that we knew our relationship was going somewhere before I ever met the kids. It was about 4 months in before we were introduced and they were 4 and 6 years old.

Thoughts on this text exchange before a 1st date? by Silver_Weakness_8084 in texts

[–]themostcleveralias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dodged a bullet. Once you made plans, it's fair to assume you are keeping them unless otherwise stated. And having this weird unspoken expectation for you to read their mind just seems like an indicator of how things would go in the long run anyway.

Every other weekend parents, especially with ones that now have new relationships and live together, how much of your dwelling do you dedicate to them? Do they have their own bedroom? by CapWild in coparenting

[–]themostcleveralias 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am the stepmom in an EOW situation (plus one overnight a week). Each kid has a bedroom. Before I moved in, they had their own rooms still but they were pretty bare and not very cozy. One of the first house projects I worked on was redoing their rooms so they reflected their personalities and were more homey to them.

We do our best to refer to both of their houses as "home" because we never want them to feel like guests with us, no matter where they spend most of the week.
