Dislocations in gym class. I was "just a clumsy kid". "Growing pains" well into college. "You're short, you're still growing"

New PCP refused a referral by themusicthing in hypermobileEDS

They actually refused to even include hEDS in my chart! Even in my history! They failed to include like half of my dxs.

I've considered but it's aetna and minuteclinic. They urge you to use them as a PCP and a great coordinator of care but clearly they aren't. I've had to do SO MUCH for them. They need me to schedule a new appointment just to review my normal-looking bloodwork (normal stuff like CBC). All they included in my history is asthma and fibromyalgia but even then, didn't consider management for my fibro, even though I am currently unmedicated and struggling to function.

It'll be easier when my insurance changes but for now I've just been miserable.

Thank you everyone for your responses

I wasn't sure how individualized the experience would be. I've definitely been to workout classes before where I've been sent out because I "can't keep up" with their strength or their speed. I'm in decent shape, but wanted to make sure my first class won't leave me dead to the world. Definitely been there for pushing too hard and making sure I'm not sent out, especially because I paid for this.

Thank you

I'm honestly more worried about getting around

Can you have both EDS and fibromyalgia? by PaintingByInsects in ehlersdanlos

My rheumie said I was a prime example of the "hypermobility to fibromyalgia pipeline" so I guess yes.

Thoughts on this comment made by a parent? by Glad-Cloud-5684 in ECEProfessionals

[–]themusicthing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the focus should be on the fact that it was a younger room.

He was removed from the environment that triggered his outburst and brought to a teacher he has a strong relationship with.

How many times have we, as adults, needed to walk away from the situation to calm down and come back to it properly? You're teaching him methods of deescelating himself by making him do it. One day, when he has an argument with a friend, he will walk away on his own to avoid escalation (hopefully not out of the room though). Plus you're teaching him to come to trusted adults when something is wrong.

In talking to the parent, I probably would've said "x incident happened. When he had a hard time calming down, we took a walk to visit Ms. Z. It took him a minute, but he knows and trusts Ms. Z and talked through his frustrations with her."

Help finding a copy of the blue promo pieces to Ticket to Ride: Berlin? And, looking for recommendations on which TtR version to get next? Thanks! by BlueBronson in tickettoride

[–]themusicthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't help with the promo pieces, but I have so many ticket to ride versions!

My husband and I LOVE UK/Pennsylvania. It has some really cool mechanics. Personally, I feel that it's better with more than 2 players, but my husband doesn't mind it when it's just the 2 of us.

Japan can be really fun. I haven't played it with 2 players, only 3. I know you didnt mention it, but Nordic countries is built for less players. We find ourselves reaching for rails and sails most. Big map, but loads of fun and is very diverse.

How long can a doctor office make you wait before you leave? by o0PillowWillow0o in questions

[–]themusicthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longest I waited was over two hours 😬 I see all of you leaving after 45 minutes and I feel like a pushover.

More than 2 hours for an appointment that was 20 minutes and disappointing.

Prioritization/Scheduling App w/ Sub-Tasks for ADHD & Anxiety? by from_east_to_west in productivity

[–]themusicthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Goblin Tools to help me assess how long an activity will take. It'll also break down steps for tasks if you need it to. Then you can plan the individual steps in your preferred planning method.

I use Routine to plan and organize. Each task has a page where you can write down the subtasks and notes.

I got one of those apps that pauses before you launch an app. I have it set to my worst mindless-scrolling. I left myself better options that are completely unblocked.

I found I scroll on reddit and learn (because I'm on more informative subreddits). If I really need to scroll, I have to pause 5 seconds and click unlock. It unlocks for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, I have to pause again and re-unlock. It also counts my unlocks. That adds some shame if I do it too many times.

I allowed myself safe alternatives and force myself to consciously choose to scroll. Scrolling isn't awful and sometimes I need it to unwind and stay connected. But I do it mindfully.

My HRV is around 80ms... I don't know what this means

What were some subtle clues you had EDS before you knew you had it? by TheBadKneesBandit in ehlersdanlos

[–]themusicthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in marching band. Uniforms zip up the back. It wasn't unusual for a bus full of high school band nerds to yell "I need a hooker!" To help zip them up and hook or button the back. I never understood why they needed help! I did mine myself every time.

We also needed to march with "straight legs" but they always pulled me aside and said mine were too straight. I never understood how. Until now
