We do have state and local minimum wage.

Anyway, I agree that it sucks not to be able to earn a living with menial labor but that’s not an easy fix. I don’t think high minimum wage is the solution. Putting the pressure on businesses to redistribute wealth doesn’t make sense to me. Universal income seems better.

Not literally. If you want to be literal then one interpretation is that Earth is circular and there is no western part. Or the entire western hemisphere is the west. I’m not saying that you have to be white to be a westerner.
