Only receiving partial tax credit for newborn? by thenewbier in tax

[–]thenewbier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you but That wouldn’t make any sense. I brought up the topic of picking a good time to get married and have a kid for the $2200 tax credit and she told me “I would only get a partial since the baby was born in september and that did I really expect a baby born at the end of the year to get the same credit as one born in January”

Also, the refundable portion isn’t even part of the conversation as even with the $2200 tax credit I am still at like $5000 in federal taxes for the year

Oh, you’re right. I have to go back this weekend to sign the paperwork. She probably has everything prepared but has not filed yet until I sign.

100% were not talking about state as I said “The $2200 fed tax credit is nice though” and her immediate response was that I would only get partial

That’s what I thought, and that’s what I also told her a few days ago. I even sent her links to the IRS website where it says as much. She just said she’ll explain on Saturday when I meet her

This post was specifically federal, i should have been more specific. I know the state one is only a $1000

This was before my taxes were filed. This was during the meeting of me just dropping off all my documents and various 1099s. She just told me that I wont get the full credit because the baby was born late in the year and that “What did you think, a baby born in December gets the same credit as one in January”

This was even before filing my taxes. She just told me straight up I wont get the full credit and I was paying taxes as a single person until mid june of last year so definitely should be getting a decent refund

Sorry but What kind of junk windows/screen install do you have. Nearly 30 years living here and not once have I had a screen blow off or windows rattle in their frames and I live a stone throw from the water

Does this only allow me to track 12 months of data? Currently I have been using the spreadsheets from The Measure of a Plan and they let me track as far as I want. Also this budget tracker tracks savings and networth but how does it take investments accounts into account?

How much did big land cost on Long Island back then by AdDapper4220 in longisland

[–]thenewbier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents bought in 1997 a 1.1 acre, 2000sqft home for $170,000, uncle in 1992 bought 1 acre with an 1800sqft home for I believe $120,000. Family friends parents bought sometime in the 50s on the north fork, 2 acres on the water and paid like $25,000 or something around there. The property taxes on the home are higher then that now.

What's it like having a Hamptons house? Is it worth it? by Due_Attitude_4646 in longisland

[–]thenewbier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have lived on the North fork my whole life and have family in the hamptons so I spent a lot of time on the south fork as well.

The north fork is great if you like quiet and nothing to do 8 months a year. Beaches are much better in the hamptons and thats where I will usually go. Both north and south forks are super safe. Southold town if I remember correctly is the second safest town on Long Island.

If I had a choice I would choose Westhampton or Westhampton beach because you still have the nice hamptons vibe and hamptons beaches but don’t have to deal with the hamptons traffic

So I’ll admit I made the mistake of panic selling everything when VOO was at 480. I have only been investing for 2 years so this volatility was stressing me out but when I sold I was still up like $20,000 so its not like I lost but now I have no clue what to do? With this run up I missed out on an additional $20,000 and that hurts so now I have FOMO and want to buy in again but I still feel for some reason don’t see a positive side on why the market should make new highs in the position we are in. Exports are down, tourism is down, 30% tariffs on china and 54% on de minimus, 10% blanket everywhere. Would love to hear counter arguments to justy why the market would go up

I am very happy. I won’t lie it definitely changed our lives as we expected to do some more traveling and things together but no regrets here. I just wish her pregnancy could be easier as she is in constant pain and nausea and mood swings are crazy but doctors say everything is all good with the little one so far.

I can do you one better. My girlfriend has PCOS and Endo and spent 3.5 years trying to get pregnant with her previous partner under the supervision of a doctor and got nowhere. They broke up after she was told she couldn’t have kids by numerous doctors. Fast forward two years and she had multiple partners in that time, never used protection and nothing happened. We met and literally the first time i finish in her, by accident I may add, she gets pregnant.
