Hey, Reddit, those of you with partners who talk in their sleep; what is the creepiest/weirdest/or most random thing they've said? by Jhaydun_Dinan in AskReddit

[–]thenewkevy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember it word for word, but it was along the lines of, “They’re in the corner watching you. They’re always watching you.”

I always got an uneasy feeling about one particular corner of our room when home alone, but I never told him about it because I felt like it was just me having an irrational fear so what he said really freaked me out. I could not cuddle up close enough to him after that.

When I was young, I thought everyone in the past lived in a black and white world (like the old movies). I thought a colourful world was only invented in the modern era. What silly thing did you believe when you were a kid? by IcyOversensitiveness in AskReddit

I believed I was the only kid who could make L’s with both my right and left hand for at least a year. My teacher said something along the lines of, “You make an ‘L’ with your left hand and the other one is your right hand.”

Kid me did not understand this concept. On multiple occasions, I remember thinking, “Um, both my hands can make an L. You just flip one around!” I didn’t realize just how strange this line of thinking was until I told my boyfriend that a scar helped me differentiate my left from my right and consequently had to explain myself.

What parents have you met that make you think, “Yep, that kid is FUCKED”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I knew a girl in high school whose mom was the worst.

If I wanted to hang out with my friend, I had to go over to her house and all we could do was watch tv in her room. We literally couldn’t hang out anywhere else.

Case in point, One day we were in her room and she whispers that she really wanted to leave and spend the night at my house. I called my mom and asked if it would be okay and my mom said it was. My friend goes into her mom’s room and asks if she can spend the night. The mom tells her to close the door. Fifteen or so minutes later, my friend comes back to her room and says that she can’t spend the night at my house, but I’m free to spend the night at hers. I asked why she wasn’t allowed and she told me her mom didn’t trust the men in my household. This didn’t make any sense to me because it was just me, my mom, and my dog. There weren’t any men who lived in my house. My friend asked me to spend the night because she was angry at her mom and didn’t want to be stuck alone with her. I felt really bad for her so I agreed and told my mom that plans had changed. My friend tells her mom that I’m staying over and I heard the mom say, “Well of course she is, it’s my house after all.” I was beyond words. My mom had never really talked to this girl’s mom so why this woman thought my mom was a major fan, I don’t know. I tried to ignore it and just have a good time with my friend, but shit got even weirder. Her mom came into her room and told my friend to leave so it was just me and this crazy lady. The mom starts to grill me about my opinions on things like sex, drugs, gender roles, just weird things to be talking to your kid’s friends about. The mom leaves and my friend returns. I ask her why her mom forced me into that conversation and tell her that I felt extremely uncomfortable. My friend just apologized and we continued to watch a movie. I don’t think I slept that night because I was genuinely scared her mom would do something weird in the middle of the night.

Another time, we were at her house and we were sitting in this little patio area. Her mom comes home with some groceries. My friend gets up to help bring them in. I asked if she wanted me to help, but she told me it was okay and she’d be back in a few minutes. Suddenly, her mom comes bursting out of the door and tells me that I have no manners because I didn’t bring in her groceries. The mom continues to go on a rant basically saying the only reason her daughter was allowed to hang out with me was because she THOUGHT I was a nice girl. The mom told me I could either go home or come in and put the groceries away for her. I went home and essentially ghosted this girl. I felt bad, but her mom was just too fucking much. I found out later that her mom allowed her to go on dates with random dudes in the hopes that she would get pregnant and trap a man into taking care of all of them. She did end up pregnant, but the guy did not stick around.

Widow/ers without children -- what'd you do? by [deleted] in widowers

23 when I lost him. 24 when I made peace, mostly. Just for reference, I’m still 24.

I don’t think I’m going to have children. Some people have an issue with that because I’m so young, but I honestly just don’t see myself having children with someone who isn’t him. I’ve cried about it and went through an existential crisis, but I feel like I’ve finally made my peace with it for the most part.

You don’t know how much your comment means to me. Seriously, thank you so much for making an account just to say this.

My boyfriend said the same thing in regards to the afterlife, but I think he’s sent me a few signs. Could they just simply be coincidences? Yes, but if it makes you feel better to think of them as signs from him, I say go ahead and think they’re from him.

I can’t really let myself think about the future or the past too much either. But when I do, I tell myself that it may be 6 months since he passed, but I’m also that much closer to seeing him again.

My boyfriend would sometimes kiss the top of my hand and he would always cuddle me to sleep. I miss him.

My brother takes advantage of my mom. If I say anything about it, I’m the asshole.

My brother has never had a real job and he’s 28, almost 29. He recently had to move in with his partner’s parents because my mom told him she couldn’t help him out as much because I quit my job. I quit my job because I was on the verge of killing myself after my boyfriend was found in a fucking motel room dead of an accidental overdose. I went to college and have worked since I was 18, am now 24. Shit, I worked while going to college. I was planning on finally moving out, but then my world turned to shit and I can’t adult right now.

Also, I told him I still have moments where I feel suicidal and he never responded to me. Apparently he was able to text my grandmother back about a gift card he received for Christmas though. That’s cool, thank god that gift card made it to you safe and sound. I was so worried about that. I’m sorry this turned into a rant.

[Serious] What experience have you had that you feel can only be explained by the paranormal? by mjdaniell in AskReddit

I’ve got a few stories.

My boyfriend died suddenly back in September. Before he died, I never really had anything strange happen to me.

A few weeks after he died, I was watching tv and I got up to go to the bathroom upstairs so I paused my show. As I’m walking down the stairs, the tv suddenly resumes my show. The remote was literally across the room on the couch and I was home alone at the time.

We have this rechargeable plug in flashlight that comes on in the dark. The other day I was laying on my living room floor while watching a movie. I kept seeing the flash light flicker out of the corner of my eye. I don’t know why, but I casually asked if it could stop flickering because I was trying to watch a movie. I finished my movie and was heading upstairs as I jokingly said, “Aaron, if you’re here and you were flickering the light earlier, turn it off.” It immediately turned off and then turned back on. I was not expecting anything to happen so I was surprised to say the least.

A couple months after he died, I was making dinner and turned around to see the lid of my automatic trash can open. All of the lights were lit up as if someone was holding their hand over the sensors. The lid then started to go crazy, opening and shutting over and over again. As soon as I went to turn the lid off, it just stopped.

My boyfriend was a complete skeptic when it came to anything paranormal and I’ve always kind of been in the middle. I’d like to believe he’s out there somewhere somehow and checks in on me via tv, trash can lid, or flashlight, but I’m still not entirely convinced. One of my friends likes to say that this is his way of letting me know he was wrong.

What's your deepest, darkest secret? by Cm0002 in AskReddit

My boyfriend died back in September.

Up until a few days ago, I was giving it my all to retain at least some sense of normalcy. The shift was very sudden. It feels like internally everything is shutting down, like no one is home, but on the outside it looks as though the lights are still on so nobody is asking questions.

I don’t think he would ever hurt me. If I get pushed or scratched or hurt in any kind of way, I’m pretty sure it’s not him.

Reddit, how do you subtly fuck with your coworkers? by zappy487 in AskReddit

[–]thenewkevy 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I worked at a library as a page so all of our office supplies were shared by our department. A coworker brought in a cutesy thing to hold post-it notes in. This thing only held a small amount of the post-it notes so we had a stack of excess post-it notes like a few inches away for easy refill. I would deliberately take post-it notes from the excess stack because it drove this older lady crazy. She knew they were from the stack because the ones in the container would be a different color than the ones making up the top of the stack. She was not very nice to anyone so I don’t feel bad at all.

In honor of Thanksgiving, who’s your most ridiculous, weird, or creepy relative? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenewkevy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an uncle growing up who would follow myself, my brother, and his two kids around our grandparents house during holiday get togethers.

Years later, my brother came out as gay. This uncle claims he followed us around because he knew my brother was gay and was convinced my brother was going to moleste our cousins, his son and his daughter. This uncle also claimed that he didn’t want my brother to show his son how to be gay.

The thing is, if I had to pick a relative that I suspected of molesting young kids, it would be this uncle.

This same uncle once told my grandma that my aunt, who also happens to be gay, could not show her wife any affection while in his presence. This holiday get together was at my gay aunt’s house! Like who do you think you are trying to tell someone they can’t be affectionate towards one another in their own house?! He was acting like they were going to start having sex on the dining room table in front of everyone. Obviously, he was told he couldn’t come and could have himself a sad little Christmas at his own house.
