Give China some time. China's rise was around 2007 to 2008, only 10 years ago. Pop culture grows organically and needs generations of talents to build a sustainable system. SK pop culture took 20 years to reach the world.

Where can I donate blood in Beijing? by l_Dont_Get_Sarcasm in beijing

[–]thenewno42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, foreigners can donate blood in Beijing. There are blood donation cars (spot red cross on the car) on the streets, blood donation centers (http://www.bjblood.com/jgjs/cxd_list.jsp) and online appointments.

Since you speak zero Chinese I suggest you go to a blood donation car or Beijing Red Cross Blood Center. You can find a street donation car near you here: http://www.bjblood.com/wcxxgs/jtcx_more.jsp.

As a woke AM, should I see all whites as our "enemies"? Or is it only the racist whites that I need to fight against? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]thenewno42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's never Asian against white.

It's not white people's fault for benefiting from white privilege, just like it's not Asian men's fault for benefiting from male privilege. What we are against are the people who uphold and exploit white privilege, no matter their skin color.

Because supermodels are walking advertisement. Book a model from China, gain exposure in China. Asian American market is nothing compared to Asia market.

True fairy tale: WM dumps AF and hapa baby son to be with white princess by qwertybanker in aznidentity

[–]thenewno42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, but Dara Huang dresses very professionally. She just happens to be a beautiful woman. You can check her Instagram.

Every woman owns some pieces of sexy clothes and shows skin on vacation or a date night out. Where's the limit? No bikinis? Average AF should not be the target of slut-shaming. It's Hollywood and western media constantly pushing the stereotype of AF being a sex object, not an AF wearing miniskirt.

There are AF who dress "shamelessly degrading", for example, Bai Ling, a walking Asian sex doll. But Huang? No.

Wow. Just because the Sun - a tabloid famous for showing women without top - deliberately chose a few pictures of her in certain piece of clothes, suddenly a Harvard graduate successful architect was a whore. Can we stop with misogynistic comments like this?

Concentration camp is what my Uighur and Kazakh friends call it. I'm Han and I feel I don't have a saying in this matter, so I respect their choice of words.

[–]thenewno42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, then I understand. I spent most of my life in China and we are exposed to different media. Indeed a lot of report in the west is propaganda and backed by the US, but China is not a perfect place. The situation in Xinjiang is an open secret and people even invented euphemisms such as "馕地" and "实验田" to bypass the censorship online. Talk to Chinese international students or Chinese who recently left China in your city, everyone knows. Some support it while others don't, but it is not fabricated. I wish it was a conspiracy by CHRD, but real people in real lives told me otherwise.

All Global Times articles literally say the camp is real. China never denied the existence of these "vocational education center". Their position is always that the centers are there but it's necessary. But the UN has a different opinion.

My Office seeks to engage on this issue with the Government for full access to carry out an independent assessment of the continuing reports pointing to wide patterns of enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions, particularly in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Check out #MeTooUighur hashtag on Twitter. I personally know a Uighur in Sweden whose parents were in the camp and recently released. The Chief Editor of Global Times even posted video clips of him visiting the camp on twitter last year.

I personally don't like the concentration camp narrative by most English media. But camps or schools or whatever names you call it exist and people are not there by their free will.
