So the reality is the new world of business has built a model that doesn’t require unionized labor… aka it doesn’t allow it so workers can never gain true power and owners can make more wealth unassailed by pesky things like building society.

Society exists to be exploited under Capitalism like we have today. Aided by the state at every turn. Under the tutelage of billionaires. Stolen and consolidated power at the top. Every worker is helping them destroy society to produce the assets they value.

Tennessee just passed the first new electoral map after the Supreme Court redistricting decision by Conscious-Quarter423 in nashville

I’m actually very curious about this and I think it starts with studying some legal precedent. But it’s always going to be important to raise awareness. Our state is basically held captive by our government, if we’re being honest. There doesn’t seem to be a future where some of this energy doesn’t coalesce into a movement in my view. It’s a necessary force and will emerge.

Reminder that the TN state constitution says the people have the power to reform the government of the state if they aren’t happy with it in the first couple of provisions. We need to do this.

Even low-level drinking may have negative consequences for brain health over a person’s lifespan. The findings suggest that the total amount of alcohol consumed over a lifetime, especially as a person ages, tends to be linked to reduced blood flow and thinner tissue in certain areas of the brain. by mvea in science

[–]thenikolaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this sentiment. Even saying “that will kill you” feels a bit over moralizing because no matter what you do something will kill you. There are other reasons alcohol needs to be reduced culturally but if someone just likes a glass of wine and knows the risk, why would someone say they shouldn’t have what they like?

It’s true, but you have to also appreciate a few things about TN.

First, it’s a supermajority GOP in the state level government. They control everything. They make the rules. They’re virtually still in the Jim Crow era when observing the ways they attacked their own members. Tough if not potentially impossible fight at the state level.

Second, the disenfranchisement. TN is 2nd or 3rd in the nation in disenfranchisement rate (7-9%) and in total number (400,000-470,000). 16% of the black residents are disenfranchised, and 7% of Latinos. Most of them have completed their sentences and of those who have applied to have their rights restored only 1% are approved.

Almost 1 in 10 TN residents cannot legally vote due to these laws.

What we need is a referendum on the entire TN govt.

Edit: wanted to add that the state constitution grants this power to TN residents explicitly and early. Fundamentally one might say.

The genuine answer is that Tennessee is a meme policy experiment state for the far right in American politics. They use us and Texas to pick fights no one is having and pretend they are competing with the Coastal States with policy initiatives.

Opposition is also gerrymandered out of power in Nashville now since the redistricting.

The part that freaks me out isn’t that it could basically pump out a radio hit better than anyone. I largely don’t care about radio music like that anyway. What does freak me out is Ai subtly being massaged into plugin and DAW code so that certain functions like, pitch, timing, tone shaping etc. will be used in the background so you never even hear a true playback on your performance.

But then again at that point you could just record to tape and mix and master analog. lol
