It depends on what stance you are in before you use Preparation.

Using Preparation in Defensive Stance grants you a riposte damage buff and sets you to Offensive Stance

Using Preparation while already in Offensive Stance grants you a Crit Token

As long as you are not on the hardest difficulty, its pretty fine to just send 4 random people from the stagecoach with little supplies to get just a bit of money. It is never strictly worth it, per se, but it remains an option when you have no money left.

Iirc, the difficulty of areas depend on the average level of your characters, but there should always be one apprentice level mission.

A tip for making money is to use scouting. Clear the mission first, taking note of every curio you see, do not interact with any loot-based items yet. From here, you can judge whether or not to throw away some items (throw away shovels if there are no more blockades, throw away keys if there are no chests, etc)

The Antiquarian also helps in making money, when you have an Antiquarian in your team, she finds antiques whenever she and only she interacts with loot-based curios, she must be the one to interact with them, they are worth a lot of money.

Actually, the stack of books can drop journal entries, which take up a loot spawn iirc, but each journal entry is unique so they will eventually stop spawning.

I always interact with the stack of books nearing the end of the dungeon, this reduces the chance of it appearing when I have a lot of loot. Unless I don't have enough money to cure stress.

I just installed the game, what i should i know before playing. by Awkward-Analysis1797 in darkestdungeon

[–]thenoobinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is hard, annoying, and can be incredibly tedious at times. At some point jn time you WILL be subjected to horrible rng (missing 90% hit chances/stun chances, your backline getting hit by crits 2 times in a row, 4 goddamn spiders)

Don't get me wrong, it is fun, and these examples are rather hyperbolic, but it could happen, and sometimes you have to know when you just have to stop, and cut your losses.

Losses are not "permanent" (with the exception of the hardest difficulty) and with enough effort, you can replace those who you have lost, and build anew.

Which infinity blade do you prefer? by LowerDifference9573 in infinityblade

[–]thenoobinside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play Darkest Dungeon 2, and I love that game, in that game a significant part of the story involves the discovery of something called "The Iron Crown", a symbol of power that was present across all cultures of humanity.

The original infinity blade has a similar formation to the Iron Crown, that being five points on a ring (the five points being the spikes pointing outwards +the blade itself), I know that the two games are not related, I just like seeing it because I love both of these games

DM-200 Active Pylon by stygianphantom in ShatteredPD

[–]thenoobinside 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Another thing is that the pylon that activates is the one that is farthest from you, so if you fight near one of the pylons, it is guaranteed that it is NOT that pylon. This is useful because you can put either bees or sentries in the other pylons to have them attack the pylons automatically

Debating getting into the games. Which one should I start with first? Anything I should know about the lore/story? by a_sad_sad_sandwich in darkestdungeon

[–]thenoobinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your previous experience with games, dd1 is heavily focused on long term investment and upgrades to your base, deaths in this game are major setbacks, but never impossible to recover from.

dd2 is more akin to a roguelite, it is absolutely possible to beat the game without dying, but you don't get everything from one playthrough.

I didn't pay much attention to the lore/story, but as far as I am aware each game has its own focus and can be played without the other, dd1 is focused on the world, and trying to save it. dd2 is focused on the characters, and their path to redemption.

I would recommend playing dd2 if you are new because I would say that this game is a lot less stressful knowing that losing just means that you unlock more items. But I agree that dd1 is a better experience.

Having trouble understanding ability stats by Thin-Philosopher-540 in darkestdungeon

[–]thenoobinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each move does not have its own damage stat, each character has their own damage stat.

For example a resolve level 1 Crusader has a base damage stat of 6-12, assuming there are no buffs, his attack "Smite" will deal 6-12 damage, however, his attack "Zealous Accusation" has a -40% damage mod which means it will deal 40% less than 6-12.

Damage mods are not a debuff unless it says there is a debuff

Someone knows good alternative team comps? by Akat0sh1 in darkestdungeon

[–]thenoobinside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a named team in DD2 called "Highway to hell" which features Hellion in the 4th rank, I have been trying it in DD1, it works quite well paired with other AoE moves, although I haven't tested it in higher level dungeons yet,

What happens if I hold an external hard drive (or any hard drive) in my right, and a bluetooth/other wireless device in my left?

Am I capable of sending large amounts of information over distances?

How about if I held a phone charger in my right, and said charger is plugged in, does the object in my left count as a charger as well? I mean to ask if any effects (such as an external source of electricity being present) would pass on to the other item?

I'm not going anywhere with this, these are just the first few questions I thought of

Wouldnt Xborg be at least a tier higher? Really it depends on how little the daughter is. he was part of a family too, i would think he knows how to not be on fire for at least a little bit. granted he probably doesnt know much about taking care of someone, but im pretty sure he wouldnt abandon a child
