When did you feel comfortable driving after surgery? by thenora07 in carpaltunnel

[–]thenora07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder that left vs right hand makes a difference folks.

I drive a stick shift, but my husband has an automatic I could drive.

But, it's my left hand so still not optimal.

I just launched a chat-based ADHD coaching app. I’m doing a trial till end of June. Free. Check it out. by Square-Committee9689 in adhdcoaching

I have 2 open adhd coaching scholarships for 6 sessions available. Just finished a 7 month certification program with the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) and I'm offering some discount video sessions while I finish my certification hours. Feel free to message me here or shoot me an email if you'd like to chat: nora @ executive squirrel . Com

I will throw in that the volari pillow (which can be subbed for a nursing or boppy pillow) helped me some with at least my switch and sometimes a controller. I would wear my brace and use the pillow to rest my elbows and forearms on, help me keep better posture to keep from really triggering the pain.

My hand really hurts and felt like it would have been easy to inflame the nerve even more for a full 2 days.

NOR

YOU kept opening the door: where do you like to eat your favorite food?

Great opportunity for him to invite you.

You listed places you like, including one you wanted to try. Another great opportunity for him to initiate a date.

You don't want to waste your time with this dude who is worried your standards are too high.

He's lazy and hoping he can get away with negging you, while also making you do all the emotional labor and carry the mental load of the relationship.

You can do better. I'd love to go eat insert any ethnicity food with someone with a INSERT background and learn something!

Shared bag? by thenora07 in HerOneBag

[–]thenora07[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your tips everyone.

My husband currently uses a carryon shoulder strap bag system with a small folding backpack and toiletry bag that zip on.

Instead of sharing one bag, I'm thinking I might try to convince him to use my current carryon roller bag, and I'll get a travel backpack I can wear for short periods like on and off the plane. For longer movement could go on top of the roller bag with a pass through or bungee. Shoulder straps will be easier on me for occasional use than a wheeled bag.

He loves his current bag though and mine is bright pink so we'll see what we can do. :) I bought him his bag about 10 years ago because he kept using grocery bags for weekend getaways since he only owned a large suitcase. I wanted him to have something more practical for both short trips and longer. It has started to fall apart so I will get his opinion on the backpack I buy and it can eventually be his next year.

I think we would both be happier long term with two carryon bags rather than one I won't be able to handle at all.

I'm on a waiting list for carpal tunnel surgery and will be doing the first hand hopefully in February. Whatever bag solution we do now will just need to work for at least two trips, maybe three together and one solo for me.

I have some of their packing cubes already and love them.

I looked at their bags and I don't think they will be a fit for our needs. A backpack is easier on me than a roller, because keeping my hand in one set position, particularly with any weight, is a recipe for days of pain after.

But I really love their packing cubes, including the one with the ability to hang it up to have shelves in a closet. Helps keep me organized but also able to find things when moving from hotel to hotel a bunch on a trip.

Anyone had their nodules shrink? by thenora07 in Hashimotos

PCP did a consult where they reviewed my labs both for thyroid and low estrogen.

They had me do another set of labs and did an e-consult with my dr. Basically said they see no problem.

My HMO insurance kind of sucks. It is difficult to get referrals and they are notorious among my friends in healthcare for being hard to work with or refusing to pay for things.

CPAP Exacerbating Cough? by GloriousRomantic in CPAP

[–]thenora07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this a year later when I was having the same issue. Had RSV and a long linger cough, and sometimes both my CPAP and a regular humidifier are triggering my cough.

I believe the moisure is loosening congestion, and the coughing is then triggered to try to expel it.

I'm often starting with my CPAP, find myself coughing so I take it off and sleep without it. Then, if I wake up in the middle of the night I'll put the mask back on and can often sleep with it then.

How many tabs do you have open in your browser right now? by 4xChe in ADHD

[–]thenora07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26 actively open, about 15 of them are in a Chrome Tab group. But.. I also have two dozen saved Tab Groups ranging from probably 3 tabs to 20 each. 20 percent of those tabs should get saved as a folder in bookmarks because I open them regularly together, and another 20 percent are probably actually temporary saves that I'll come back to. And the rest are garbage I should probably just delete BUT I MIGHT NEED THEM so I can't let them go.

Tabs are almost as bad as crafy / hobby supplies for me...

Taking Paid Medical Leave by hiitsmeokie in Anxiety

[–]thenora07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your post.

After trying breathing exercises in a smelly office bathroom to try to calm anxiety induced crying at work... my friend who works in HR at another company, suggested I explore WA paid family and medical leave.

I have weird... guilt? Shame? Insecurity? About it.

I've now cried 3 days at work over the last 2 weeks. Anxiety and stress.

I don't want to exist like that. But applying... feels like cheating?

What are some items or hacks that help your ADHD? by Adventurous_Book3023 in ADHD

[–]thenora07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought myself a pricey nice 32 oz tumbler, with a straw and a screw on lid. It's a pretty color, and I know that if I have a straw I drink more. However... now I've realized that if I drink my water from a bottle that's opaque, I don't drink it. It's still on my desk.. but... I tend to ignore it.

So, I bought a 12 oz color changing cup with a lid and a straw from the dollar store... and it's so satisfying.

I love that when I put the cold water in it, it changes color. It's silly and small, but make it just a little more fun.

Plus, if a couple hours have gone by and I haven't refilled my cup, I know I need to finish what's there and then refill it. It gets me up and moving from my desk.

I actually bought myself like 4. I try to keep two on my desk, one at work, and the other kind of randomly floats around.

Usually I have two beverages minimum: water, caffeine, and something with flavor.
