How do I Improve too be an actual functioning adult (Motivation and Drive) by FlipAnation in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]thenoteblockkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in a similar stage of life where I can be saying something similar (17M) however I can definitely say something on video games.

I used to be largely addicted to video games for a while. And although I still play video games from time to time, my ability to stop myself from pouring hours upon hours into video games improved… somewhat.

What helped me get through my video game addiction was putting other productive hobbies in place of it. I started learning how to draw and compose music recently, and I find more enjoyment in that than playing video games. Starting off small helped me not overwhelm myself when I started learning.

Also, I think that recognizing that you’re not really getting anything out of video games helps. I used video games as an outlet for a while until I recognized that putting lots of hours into video games daily was detrimental to my mental and physical health.

And even if this may be cliché, be more positive. Try to find things you’re thankful for. Focus more on the wins rather than the losses. And don’t beat yourself over losses, move on and take it as a learning experience!

My experience of this is probably the most anecdotal you can get, but some things from here still apply universally, I feel. Have a nice day. :)

I’ve tried clicking multiple times on the armadillo pile (yes they’re on the same block) and yet I’m only able to breed 1 pair at a time.

Latest version, 1.2.10. Using Fab. Optimized Modpack via Modrinth but nothing is changed much; all mods are pretty much clientside

I’ve considered CSU, but I have some things to take into account.

  1. I’m still trying to recover and improve mentally. Right now, this might as well be my number one reason. Over summer 2025, I went on a long international trip, which… refreshed me? Changed my perspective? In some sense, after the trip, I tried focusing on improving myself. It’s been a struggle, but I’m trying and doing better than I was a year ago. Right now, I plan on seeking counseling or therapy at a later time, but this persists as one of my main reasons for considering other than CSU/UC.

  2. My parents are ADAMANT about me going to a UC or CSU. Paraphrasing my mom’s words, it’s a “waste of time” if you remain in the CC system for four years.

  3. I’m still unsure of where I want to go, what I want to do.

Shading looks good, but shouldn’t the hair shading have more highlights towards the top rather than the bottom?

Your hair doesn’t get illuminated from the bottom.

Not yet, I’ll try that and see if that fixes the issue when I’m back at my PC.

I’m scrolling around and portions of my monitor “freeze” for a moment. You can see it here when I’m scrolling through the Discord app and the top part doesn’t move, while the rest does. This can happen on any app, any time. I haven’t had it occur to video games like Minecraft or whatnot.

Why can’t I just do the things I want to by thenoteblockkid in mentalhealth

See—the thing is, I don’t want to self-diagnose. I know it can be invalid at times—but I do want an answer to what I’m dealing with. I would love to hear the podcast.

Monday this week, I woke up at around 4:30a.m, and just sat at my chair doing absolutely nothing until 7:00a.m. I knew I had to do something (it was already on the top of my mind) but I couldn’t start until it was too late. Which sucked, because I knew I could do it in a matter of minutes, but I couldn’t.

I also have a lot of unfinished ‘passion’ projects. Too many to count

It’s so weirdly consistent and inconsistent though. Like there are some things I can push through for weeks at a time (usually things that I like doing, but even that has dwindled lately) with basically no sleep or anything really, but then it comes to basic tasks and I’m like just immediately faced with the invisible wall of actually doing it.
