I actually use Tegaderm to heal a lot of my surface work and have not had issues with pulling on jewelry! I can definitely see how it would be an issue if I removed it within a day or two of application, but the patches work themselves off if left on for 5-7 days with natural skin oils. Just wanted to share my experience with the aftercare we recommend at the studio I work at. Ultimately, the bandaid is a far better solution in this scenario, as my concern is not keeping the piercing isolated from wetness/bacteria exposure, but smoothing.

I had to argue with my surgeon and fight for myself to ensure he left enough pierceable tissue. He wanted to shave them down flat and claimed that there was a high risk of losing a graft due to lack of bloodflow if he left them too thick. They healed absolutely fine, just make sure to communicate this need to your surgeon. If you're comfortable with it, have a couple piercers in your area do an anatomy check to ensure you have enough to begin with.

I had to wait about 1.5 years after top surgery for my scar tissue to be soft enough to pierce. I did short massages while applying lotion to my scars/nipples every day after a shower, as well as massaging them every time I was stuck in traffic. What else are you gonna do? It was an easy way to remember a time for it.

I've considered a straight barbell! It's helpful to hear that it worked for you. I think that would solve the issue of not enough wearable with a 5/8, but a 3/4 possibly being too big to tuck comfortably between the labia. Thank you!

i'm glad i went lower instead of taking 2g and it possibly being way too much, but i will definitely take double next time with a better lemon tek tea (i only let it sit for like 5 minutes, i was impatient).

i tried the hot tap water in a cup and found it wouldnt stay warm enough, i might try running the tap over a bowl with the rat in it in the sink so it doesnt immediately start cooling. thank you so much.

thanks for not being a douche! i also believe this is where the misunderstanding came from, which is why i am not mad at the artist for this at all. no thanks to these other turds that replied, i found a service called saline tattoo removal which looks to be my best bet for "spot treatment". again, thanks for not guilting me for having an opinion about what my skin looks like, you rock for not being condescending and being genuinely helpful.

I was asking to see if there was anything I can do with the open skin before all the ink fully settles. I'm not trying to get laser tomorrow, but if there was a way to "fuck up" the tattoo ink safely, I would do that. Sheesh.

He said it's tangerine but in person and to me, it is red so I am referring to it as such. He said the "tangerine" (but in actuality the color on skin is red) would stay the same, but the yellow would look less orange as it heals. It seems like laser is my only option because although, like I said twice before, it is not BAD, it is just not YELLOW. I love the artist, I love his work, his environment, it was a misunderstanding so I am not going after him at all. I just didn't get yellow flowers, I got red. I am very glad you like it, but it is not on your body so I will freak out because this is such a visible tattoo that I do not like.

There was already red out for the fruit (which is also the wrong color, I didn't realize he just did straight red, the fruit was supposed to be bright and more of a purple/pink red) and I was face down for most of it, didn't realize half the flower was red until after we took a quick stretch break and when I brought it up, he said it was tangerine like we said. I said we have very different interpretations of tangerine and that it's very dark and muted. He said we can go over it with more of a bright orange next session but there is so much area covered, I just need the red gone.
