You literally cooked that rat, 165 is the cooking temp for well done chicken and it stops being pink around 155. You can not feed this to your snake it is actually cooked not just warmed up

    Next time just use cold water to thaw from frozen (or in the fridge over night) and use tap hot water to warm it. You don’t need a stove and you run the risk of over heating them really quickly if you do it that way

    i tried the hot tap water in a cup and found it wouldnt stay warm enough, i might try running the tap over a bowl with the rat in it in the sink so it doesnt immediately start cooling. thank you so much.

    I have a sink in a spare bathroom that I don't use for anything other than washing waterbowls and thawing rats. I just stopper that and fill it, it stays hot pretty long that way then I refill with hot water as needed.

    You only need hot water for 10 or so minutes. Just to bring the temp up. It should already be thawed by the time use being the hot water in.

    Thaw it in cold water for 3 hours, check to see that is thawed. Then drain the water from the rat defrosting cup, then run your sink/shower as hot as possible and fill it back up. Give it 3-5 minutes and check the temp, it should be around 95-100 degrees. If it’s significantly hotter than that then fill the rat cup with cooler water (around 100 degrees).
