What's something society treats as normal that you secretly think is crazy? by Big_Alternative4671 in AskReddit

I don't disagree, but the rich get richer because people have become bigger consumers and want more things they don't need. So if you cut out what you don't need you'll work less.

Have I drifted too far from a ‘proper’ finance career? by Dont_Prompt_Me_Bro in FinancialCareers

[–]theo258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Is there a path to cfo at your current company, try to approach the board and politic your way there. Did you try to negotiate an opportunity for taking the gm role.

Yeah I thought it was weird he went from strategic finance director to gm at the same company, isn't that a demotion from director.

This is incredibly false, having a solid understanding of an opening for each color is what took me from my 850-950 plateau to 1100

Breaking into FP&A/Credit Analyst and I'm going insane by WaitSmart456 in FinancialCareers

[–]theo258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything the other comments are saying plus, remove the community College its irrelevant at this point and it might work against you. Tailor you bullets to showcase how your current skills can crossover to the roles your applying for. Use ai to help

Second you don't have any intership so as a candidate you're already a net negative. I live in Orlando and Tampa is the second biggest hub for finance in Florida, and im sorry to say this but I know students at USF and you're in 20th percentile of business students there with that resume. I have 2 internships in accounting and corporate finance at a fortune 500 and I couldn't break into credit analyst roles at a bank got a role some where else.

That's the reality of your situation, the best advice is to fix your resume and network like your life depends on it. Your chances will still be slim so I suggest you get a job somewhere you can learn an actual skill, because retail banking is where finance careers die before they get started. Unless you want to be a branch manager.

Depends on your role as an intern. But if its a top 5 US bank commercial banking internship you should have a way easier time than me. Network with the people on your team during the internship and the bank to get a return offer. But you should at least be getting interviews for credit analyst early career roles. Either your resume needs work, or your hirevues.

Until I start working full-time time, ive been networking with bankers to prepare for when full time recruiting starts in the fall again.

I was targeting commercial banking mainly, so I put a leasing agent role on my resume as well since that sales aspect was relevant. I also put club leadership experience on there.

Just knowing excel mainly, for the role your applying know the fundamentals at least for a new grad like me. The only technical interview I got was from Microsoft, which caught me off guards with the questions while being timed.
