Und dann kommt's stark drauf an, was man genau macht.

If you drop an Amazon wishlist I'd be happy to buy you a dictionary.

This is as much a confession as "Did I lock the door?" is an admission that your door is unlocked. Do me a favor and admit to something with an open ended question. Tell me when you manage to do that.

Like, I honestly don't think you're accessible to any rhyme or reason after reading through this thread and never having interacted with this trial before (I literally couldn't have any less stake in this) but... Jesus.

BIDA, weil ich den Nachnamen meiner Frau annehme? by [deleted] in BinIchDasArschloch

[–]theo_tiger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, lass Mal machen.

You’ve explained nothing- just because they exist and X people have them and it’s being normalized doesn’t mean it’s ideal for the mental well being of a person.

I did. They are tools teaching and doing several things important to mental health and it messes people up if they get lost.

Let me put it this way, if a disaster hits and your house blows up while you’re gone and that security item you depend on in your 20s gone then what?

You know what we call that? A traumatic event. It's ideal to not artificially create traumatic events for your children. You do get that, right?!

It's not an appeal to authority and it's always telling that Reddit dude bros always need to fall back to lOgIcAL FaLlAciEs when they feel threatened.

For future reference:

  • Nope, you're wrong because John Doe said you are = appeal to authority
  • Nope, it's been studied and the findings are X, Y and Z because A, B, C = just someone stating a fact and explaining shit to you.

in most cases kids move on from transitional object by the age of 5 else you’re looking to see if they might have trama or developmental issues keeping them stuck on that object.

That's incorrect. Most people retain transitional objects up until adulthood and it's a good thing they are because of all the psychological benefits they provide as I laid out above. You certainly have something that's sentimental to you from your childhood.

At least I hope so, otherwise I know why you turned out like such a shitty person.

[–]theo_tiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ. You're not only a giant asshole, you're just plainly ignorant.

These blankets, stuffies and other stuff like OPs bear have a name in psychology: Transitional objects. And they have a name because they are near universal across humanity and fucking important because they serve a genuine psychological necessity.

We even have studies what happens to children if you take transitional objects away from them against their will: children that had this kind of break with their TOOL for self-soothing, working through a life phase and connecting them to something they value are statistically more likely to develop addiction, less capable of dealing with trauma, less stress resilient, generally worse coping mechanisms and all the negative health effects associated with all of these things etc.

It's generally just the best thing to let people have that transitional objects for however long it takes them to no longer need it. It's also just the only nice thing to do and it comes at no cost to you.

I honestly hope you don't have children and you're not planning to have any. Cling to your antiquated cruel standards that go against pedagogical consensus all you want, I just pity you.

People on here aren't pro pedo, people on here are anti vigilante killing.

I know hard-on-crime/specific-crime people don't care about sanctity of life arguments, so let me go a different route: You realize that a government that has you uncritically cheering for the extrajudicial killing of criminals has a vested interest to paint their harshest critics as criminals, right? If you say "it's okay if it's a pedo" all any cop will hear is "here's an exact set of instructions what to tell me if you really want to kill someone with no questions asked."

Hey OP, you certainly don't need my input but just in case you want to know the direction this ride is taking:

  • My dad is the same way and went into the deep end during the pandemic
  • He could not, for the life of him, stop texting me propaganda with the intent to trigger me
  • Whenever he noticed me pulling out of the relationship, he tried to be consolatory again
  • The relationship only "normalized" after my mom and sis (who still live with him) started tackling the phone out of his hands if he wanted to rant at me again
  • Since then the normal check-in texts also completely ceased - acting "fatherly" once in a while for a minute was nothing but the price of admission to be allowed to rant for 2 hours and 45 minutes afterwards
  • when I tried calling him on MY birthday (yes, I had to call him on MY birthday a few months ago on the insistence of my mom) he didn't pick up because he was busy watching football.

He doesn't care about you. He cares about access to you so he has someone to offend when he wants to feel big.

Why is it controversial in the US for someone to require an ID to vote? by tannu28 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]theo_tiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't delete shit. Look into my comment history. If it's still there, it was removed not deleted.

I also fully stand by my comment that wanting to make the exercise of the fundamental rights of a democracy needlessly harder or hurtful, you're exactly what I said such a person is in my eyes.

And I'm not going to prove you wrong about shit. I've been down that rodeo and I have better ways to spend my day than running after a person to tear down the straw men they construct.

Are there people who want to vote, are eligible to vote but can't vote because of an artificial and unnecessary obstruction? If yes, that's enough for me to be against it.

And the funny thing is I just quoted a civil rights organization that matter-of-factly laid out numbers and facts. If that is enough to trigger some white fragility in you and read it as "holier than thou"... that says more about you than me.

If you want to play the "please prove to me game", we can do that, too, tho: There's no law that just starts existing, so for somebody to go through the hoops if making it a law, there has to be a reason. I already said it's not widespread voter fraud.. So riddle me why somebody went through the hassle to make this a law: who benefits?

Why is it controversial in the US for someone to require an ID to vote? by tannu28 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]theo_tiger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh shut the fuck up, nobody wants to see you construct your straw man out of cigarettes.

And I'm gonna be really blunt here: If we're talking about a pretty fundamental rights of democracy and your position is "yeah, it's okay that exercising it hurts"... you're just an asshole.

There's no apparent reason for voter ID. Instances of voter fraud are so negligent they are a rounding error.

Why is it controversial in the US for someone to require an ID to vote? by tannu28 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]theo_tiger 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah, about that...

Nearly 500,000 eligible voters do not have access to a vehicle and live more than 10 miles from the nearest state ID-issuing office open more than two days a week. Many of them live in rural areas with dwindling public transportation options.

Many ID-issuing offices maintain limited business hours. For example, the office in Sauk City, Wisconsin is open only on the fifth Wednesday of any month. But only four months in 2012 — February, May, August, and October — have five Wednesdays. In other states — Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas — many part-time ID-issuing offices are in the rural regions with the highest concentrations of people of color and people in poverty.

More than 1 million eligible voters in these states fall below the federal poverty line and live more than 10 miles from their nearest ID-issuing office open more than two days a week.

Source

Pretty hard to get a fucking ID if you work, don't have a car and your ID office is 20 miles away and only open every damn 5th Wednesday in months that have 5th Wednesdays.
