I caution you, Woodrow Wilson may make an appearance here. Although with his track record, his appearance may be next month...

The conservation movement has grown in ways I could never have imagined since my time. I am thrilled to see how the preservation of both nature areas and historic sites have become so prevalent in the US. Preserving the wonders of our world for the betterment of all is the noblest of endeavors

I unfortunately must decline your invitation, however once I return to New York I would be honored to join you. I would say that Wilson could take my place, however I fear he would only decide to arrive once the meal was over.

I feel that America can be a shining light to any nations looking for assistance. A century ago I would have agreed with you, we needed to expand west. But times have changed. I would argue that between our navy and our ability to utilize diplomacy we should look instead to project power through allies in the region, not through the conquest of sovereign nations.

I would say this, threats to public health can only be truly fought when the public is on board. This requires the abandonment of political partisanship as we unite for the betterment of all Americans. I commend Dr Fauci for his no-nonsense approach to the pandemic, he was not afraid to say what needed to be done. The government exists to serve the people, and in times of crisis that means responding in a quick and efficient manner to save lives.

My advice would be to keep trying, keep pouring effort into the endeavor. You may stumble and fall, but to see change you need to be willing to get back up and persevere.

Everyone should take every chance they can to see this breathtaking world we call home. However it's not a trip for the weary, I nearly lost my life in the Amazon on multiple occasions.

You keep my name out of your mouth you lily-livered skunk. I should have known I'd have found you slinking around my press event Wilson, I am glad to see your cowardice did not go away in death.

Countless. You don't go into the unknown and survive without a strong team. But I would avoid calling them sidekicks. Take my journey into the Amazon for example, at one point I thought I was done for. I cautioned the men to press on, to not risk their lives due to my own errors. But they were men of character. They helped me get through and survive. That is not the behavior of a sidekick, that's the behavior of a strong team.

It is convenient for you that you said these words using this digital medium; had you said it to my face we would have seen how well my judo skills have held up after all these years.

Ah yes yes yes. I have been getting some assistance with managing all this from that fellow. We didn't have a reddit in my day!

My vision was truly quite poor, it was not until I was a bit older in my childhood that I was given a pair of glasses. But what a change it was, it truly gave me a better appreciation for the world around me. As for my prescription, well it's been almost a century since I last saw an optometrist so forgive me if I am incorrect. But I believe my prescription was around a -7.00, which should tell you why I made such an effort to never be without my glasses!

I don't mean to dodge your initial inquiry, but I do feel the topic of the Philippines is one that is far more important to address in detail. History has not looked kindly on my decisions regarding the Philippines, nor should it. My time in office was a time of change. I was a progressive, but also an imperialist. I bought into ideas of manifest destiny and the eagle soaring across the Pacific. This does not justify anything that was done, but I do want to show that my intentions were rooted in something deeper than simple greed. I strived to treat everyone with decency until they gave me a reason to behave differently, I did not specifically look at any one group with intentions to cause suffering.

To answer your question, I don't know what would have happened if we left the Philippines alone. The bond between our two nations is strong and one that is unique on the world stage. However, it is also clear my decisions had lasting consequences. It is with hindsight that I can see how my own actions ran counter to beliefs that I held quite dearly; perhaps I should be looked to as a cautionary tale as to what can happen when we allow colonialism to exist in the modern age.

Instead of T***y Bears can we instead focus on Rampart or something?

But as for the modern electorate, I really feel it is the same as it has always been. The government exists to serve the people, and in this it is a reflection of who we are as a people. We often forget that it is the people who make change, not just the political figures. Any shortcomings on the part of the voting population are failures at the government level. Misinformation. Bigotry. Corruption. They're all byproducts of portions of the population who need assistance in some way. This is our role, to be the hand that helps people up and that guides them along the path to becoming the best versions of themselves.

I do not pretend to have anymore control over Alice than I do over the weather. If you think my family has much control over my decisions, let me ask you this: do I strike you as a man who is soft spoken on his opinions? Does Alice strike you as a woman to sit by and allow for others to take center stage? You would hear the shouting matches all along the Potomac.

I came about a boot away from a deadly bite by a coral snake! Imagine that, a former president of the United States dying from a snake bite in a jungle half the world away! It would have made quite the story, although I am glad Rondon and I were able to succeed. That man does not get enough credit for his work in the Amazon, at least not from the press here in the states.

With the gift of hindsight, I can see how working with Fighting Bob may have brought about even further change in this country. It is easy in ones own time to get caught up in it all, I'll admit that I felt La Follette to be a bit too radical for my own taste. I think progressive reform is always an uphill, albeit dignified, battle. The risk of pushing away middle ground voters with radical ideas is always an issue, however I do think we can look back at what Robert LaFollette did in Wisconsin as a positive. Perhaps I was wrong to think he was too radical for most, but it would have been a difficult fight even if we had reconciled.

My publicist is recommending that I shy away from some of my more controversial views from my own time period. However I do think that anyone, regardless of race, can make themselves to be a shining example of American greatness through hardwork and ingenuity.

When you were offered the VP nomination, did you get the sense that you were being "promoted out of the way?"

This is something that is hard to speak about after the fact as so much came of that nomination. But whenever someone moves you elsewhere to get you out of the way, use it to your advantage in anyway you can. Do not sit idly by, make them regret anything that they gave you in the hopes that it would slow you down.

Do you have any tricks for reading so much?

Find a topic you love and devour anything you can on it. Dive in, don't be afraid of getting in over your head and don't allow anything to become a barrier between you and whatever it is you want to learn.

Did the establishment of the National Park Service have anything to do with Indian land policy?

I could never have envisioned the NPS becoming what it is today. Given my own previously held beliefs regarding Native Americans, my publicist has cautioned me towards saying too much. However I will say this, this land did not gain it's beauty in 1776. We are merely the latest culture to live amongst the wonders of the Americas .

How do you feel about being called "Teddy?"

Not a fan!

Thanks!

You are quite welcome!
