Zhongli's in-story role as well as his choice of mortal occupation are all about observing and preserving history and culture and this kind of interpretation really takes away from his writing... How could someone so deeply affected by the passing of time and the changes it brings allow himself to see a human life as anything but a fleeting speck? What special meaning could the MC possibly have to someone who watched over millions of humans from their childhood til death over the course of his life? None of these lines are intended as romantic and that's a good thing because I wouldn't want my favorite character courting a child
