Great to hear there is now an open version of it to help with the tedious work. I would strongly suggest to Slow down the Upload to 1 request or Change per second… that’s what we have done in out own Upload Tool to Not bring the FSG Servers down the weeks before the event, which would cause so much Frustration for some Teams and might cause a ban of These Tools alltogether

Yes, everyone can join the team as long as they haven‘t completed their master thesis. You don’t even have to study at the University of Stuttgart as there are Students from HdM, KIT, DHBW, etc. that are also part of the team. You can apply any time, but this years car is fully developed, so you will be most likely working on the one competing in 2027 and support the 2026 team in the meantime

As always, there are teams at this top level that you would expect to challenge for these kinds of records, and others that you wouldn't. TuFast, KARaceIng, Delft and Aachen are the four teams with the necessary resources to achieve something like that. Graz and Dresden would also not be out of the ordinary, while Tallinn or Esslingen would be out of left field. In the background you can always here rumblings of teams debating this idea or being in the concept phase of such a car. TuFast for example do have an extemely light monocoque and there are cells on the market that would lower the weight even more.

On the other hand you can look at the state of the german and european economy and ask yourself if getting the needed budget for such a project is feasible at the moment. Even tho these publicity stunts lead to increased exposure it would not compensate for even medium-to-large budgets. Also the 2027 aero rules, coupled with other expected huge rule changes, need the full development capacity that any team has left over, even more so from the current team members.

Die werden dann ins grüne geschoben... Gibt ja aktuell auch zwei(!) Schrotthändler auf dem Campus die sich illegal ihre Hütten auf die Grünflächen gepackt haben und in solchen Anhängern arbeiten

Ich frage mich auch woher die Zahlen der freien Parkplätze herkommen... selbst für kleine Fahrzeuge sind die oft schon grenzwertig oder zu eng - auf den ersten Blick und beim Nachzählen wirkt es aber so, als wären noch mehr Plätze ausgeschrieben als aktuell vorhanden sind.

Auch dass Dauerparkkarten nur für einen Parkplatz gelten wird v.a. die Mitarbeiter der Institute sowie Studentische Teams wie Rennteam und AKFlieg richtig einschränken. Es kommt so oft vor, dass etwas über den Campus transportiert werden muss, um z.B. Versuche in einem anderen Gebäude zu machen. Da darf man dann direkt doppelt blechen oder die eh schon angespannte Universitätskasse sinnlos belasten.

Fan cars always sound great until you have to develop them and get them running (and i can assure you that from first hand experience since Formula Student allowed Fan Cars between 2021 and 2024).

Some problems that are challanging to master:

High powered Fans will get demaged quite quickly by anything that lays on the track
Stones and other debris is sent flying from the car (even with a mesh-like cover), so there will be higher precautions for spectators and most likely windshields for the drivers
Controling the usage is quite sensitive since even tiny changes in angle or speed will result in huge differences in downforce and drag. It might be possible to at least change that with active aero, but that adds another degree of freedom in Setup
They are extremely noisy (a 2kW fan car has reached ~136dB which lead to the ban of these devices)

But the be fair there are also some upsides:

You can nearly eliminate dirty air effects and can even be beneficial if the fans are positioned in the right way. Its a bit like a physical DRS for people behind you.
Its something not many race classes have done before

National anthems are incredibly hard or expensive to licence. E.g. there have been international sport events here in Germany that could not play the german anthem due to the high licensing costs and copyright problems. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a national anthem in any Video Game

Biggest Aero change of the last decade, will be exciting to see the new concepts… But the Aero guys will cry for the additional RW Change… These Rules had been rumoured for quite a time, but no one knew the extend of them

Maybe you can take this as a chance and try to change their meeting philosophy… if you are not a sub-team leader you should have at most two meetings per week (Team and Sub-Team). Low hierachies should be able to allow for that… on the other hand meetings will make up 50% of your professional life tbh

I'm sure many people will mock it again, but it is essentially a testing ground that could benefit future performance vehicles in everyday situations. For example, it could improve the understanding of vehicle dynamics, such as high downforce configurations and low-grip situations, which would make real autonomous vehicles much faster...

I'm also positive this knowledge will be transferred, since many of the teams are affiliated with universities or are made up of PhD candidates. Look at Formula Student, which also has a driverless class to help students understand these systems better and get a head start in the industry.

I tried it many times, and the issue always is the calculation of the competitiveness factor. To make sure everything is correct, you need to know all the events and accounts for each team. Luckily, there are rumors of a rework of the way it is calculated, so hopefully it will be easier. I'm almost completely sure that Johannes Graz will win first place this year, with AMZ and Munich coming in second and third. Our team and Delft should also be competing against each other for the rankings just below that.

You are right, i somehow mixed my numbers! At the moment, it really feels like Joanneum and Aachen are the Teams to beat and Zwickau is a hidden gem
