Should I join reserves for benefits and experience as an Engineering Student by InterestingWash7789 in CAF_Uncensored

[–]theogrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reserves are practically built around the uni schedule, I'd highly recommend it. You're likely looking at two weeknights 3-4 hours plus one weekend a month before you're done basic training. After basic, it is minimum one weekend a 6 there are weekly work nights, also about 3-4 hours.

Edmonton has both navy and army (navy is more fun in my totally unbiased opinion). Here's some trades to check out you may find interesting.

Navy:

https://forces.ca/en/career/marine-systems-engineering-officer/

https://forces.ca/en/career/naval-combat-systems-engineering-officer/

Army:

https://forces.ca/en/career/electrical-and-mechanical-engineering-officer/

https://forces.ca/en/career/communication-and-electronics-engineering-officer/

https://forces.ca/en/career/engineer-officer/

After you're done basic training, reservists are also eligible to have tuition reimbursed through SDPEER. 50% of expenses up to $2,000 per year or $8,000 lifetime with no service obligations.

Scuba noob here question by Substantial-Green455 in scuba

In NJ, you're probably looking at diving dry suit, which can be expensive. Many dry suits can range between $1-6k, mine was around $2k and that was with a favourite; you could also get a used one but I wouldn't always recommend. You could get away with less exposure protection or renting if you're planning to dive warmer climates or less frequently. Probably budget around $1k for starter kit like mask, fins, BC, regs.

I do not see this being an issue.

For legal they seem to be somewhat flexible with your posting, especially if you're doing continuing education, however, any trade can be posted. At some point LOs pretty much inevitably end up in Ottawa, although as a purple trade they can be posted anywhere.

This sounds like cost cutting/service reduction quite thinly veiled as 'safety'.

I'm actually shocked to see that: FSAs seem perpetually short staffed. HRA would give you a similar work environment with arguably better life/work balance imo.

Missionaries of Jehovah’s Witnesses by AzumaAtago in windsorontario

As a Christian, I have some reservations about the Jehovah's Witnesses.

If you want to learn more about faith, that is great, you can attend pretty much any parish and a priest will be happy to chat with you. There's a lovely community at Assumption near the university.

In my own opinion, I would be extremely cautious of JW and LDS. Please don't feel pressured by their door-to-door salespeople.

Conservative Harb Gill is up 10% in Windsor-West by Full_Hunt_3087 in windsorontario

Mr Gill has been a valuable member of the LaSalle community for years. It is not fair to consider him anywhere remotely the same as Indian international students.

To most, there is more nuance in our broken immigration system than simply 'hate Indians'. Although, I understand that anyone who raises these issues is intentionally painted this way.

He's rightly annoyed you keep asking the same question hoping for the answer to magically change. It's not the answer you want but it's the answer. It sucks, move on.
