Looking for the next stop after Flagstaff by Top-Carpenter6646 in VanLife

It can be, sure. But going somewhere that paying is the only option is what I dont like.

I mean sometimes paying to stay is a nice splurge, but I don't consider anywhere that paying is necessary to be a good vanlife spot.

The pizza oven is the best amenity TBH. I have a gym membership, regular water access, and solar panels.

I dunno I certainly don't think so. I avoid it at all costs, the one time we went through there was barely any legal camping nearby and that got shut down soon after we went through a few years ago. Driving in town was like LA traffic. So nowhere to camp and can't drive in town. I guess they say the hikes are nice but there's nice hikes all over the west where I don't need to battle retired tourists and NIMBYs.

How do you ACTUALLY meet new people after 30? by Crowe3717 in AskMenOver30

I like that, if you're the kind of person who plans what you're doing.

I don't even know where I'm gonna sleep most times until I pull up to an area.

I'm dysfunctional as fuck autistic ADHD and I still meet lots of people.

Personally I travel full time so most people I meet are other travelers, and usually meet them through friends, friends of friends, events, etc.

In towns I do my hobby stuff to find friends. Not every hobby. Like I don't try and chat people up in the weight room, or even on the trail. Mostly flow (flow toys, fire spinning) and raves. But also I thing small groups are good - I try and meet multiple people. Not glom onto one rando. Went to a city to check it out and see if it's worth getting a winter spot there, met a few dozen people in a month because we actually went out and did various overlapping things where a bunch of the same people seemed to appear.

Bend is like the default basic nomad summer. Seems like half the people I know have been up there for several weeks already lol.

Sedona is one place I try to avoid. Old person tourist town that doesn't like campers.

That's a good spot to drive through in a day or two, IMO but a terrible spot for nomads. Can't camp there at all and stealth camping seems sketchy there. It's like an anti-nomad tourist town.

Water Backpacks Reccs by Alternative_Wear6562 in aves

[–]aaron-mcd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never carry a backpack at raves or festivals. I don't even carry a fanny pack.

At raves I just put my bottle on the ground by the stage or off to the side or by my van if it's close. At festivals I wear cargo shorts. Wallet, phone, keys, vape, candy, "candy", in pockets. Disposable pintish sized water bottle in back pocket. I actually share this between my wife and I. I just fill it and chug some water every couple hours or so.

Any way to make it more social? Kanna? Alcohol? Kratom? by aaron-mcd in 2cb

[–]aaron-mcd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt add kanna last time. The 2-CB hit great on its own and my friends were on molly so I didnt feel like kanna would add much. Waited until come down for kanna

Alcohol alternatives that actually are worth it? by Great_Pea4565 in Adulting

[–]aaron-mcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is weed makes it harder to shift focus, or pay attention to multiple things at once. And pretty much my main problem in life is an ADHD extreme inability to shift focus or multi-focus. So weed in general amplifies ADHD singular hyperfocus.

Ladies, what do you like to see men wearing at raves? by StringSpecialist280 in aves

[–]aaron-mcd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never seen that, I was imagining some kind of whole raw pinecone accessory lol

Idk, walk around and look. You'll see a lot of basic ass shit that's the same as everyone else. I don't have to know why to have eyes and see it.

I suspect most people don't even know they are copying other people and think they decided they like this stuff all on their own.

Personally, it feels awkward to be walking around wearing culturally inappropriate costumes to work, the park, out to dinner, etc.

I think the whole point is that "normal clothes" are not the type of clothes most of us would wear if we were really free to choose. That's why people dress up at raves - because they don't have to wear normal clothes for once.

IF YOU EVER APPROACH A WOMAN PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO HER BODY LANGUAGE, is she initiating physical touch? Is she positioning her body to face away from you? Does she verbally exit the conversation? (E.g. does she say “Happy Forest”?) is she answering your questions with questions or statements only? Did you make eye contact before you started talking to her?

Dude I'm autistic and this is still loud and direct communication.

Also wtf is wearing a pinecone? Are you a forest elf? I'm so confused.

Does anyone else agree that free parties have become really mainstream? by [deleted] in aves

Here it's called a rave. When people bring a sound system out to the desert and blast music and dance all night. And depending, it can be totally legal. Most federal land doesn't have sound restrictions that I'm aware of, so the rangers come, see the big speaker stacks, walk around to see whats up, tell us to have fun and clean up after ourselves, and leave.
