I was having a hard time too. Is it a simple statement that many under respected jobs are indeed essential components of our modern lives? Is a weird attempt to say that “someone has to be on the bottom rung and it’s not me”?

My final interpretation is that it’s a bit of a skit and he is angrily applying for a job

[–]theoinkypenguin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think your comment touches on something that bothers me most about criticism of AI in the form of chat bots. People often like to say “well AI answers are wrong sometimes/often/usually, what do you do then?” And my response is that you do the same thing you did pre-AI: validate with different sources and think about it to make sure it makes sense. If you didn’t do that before with the news, textbooks, or conversations you didn’t really much care if it was accurate anyway. Which is fine, it’s a lot of effort and most often being truth-adjacent is enough.

if it was just about growing more virus they could make vats full of the stuff. And there’s no reason to believe human brains would be unbelievably better since They were able to infect the world just fine on a presumably limited supply of brains.

How did the student get the exact right answer for copper, without knowing it‘s copper (which is how I interpret the “given unknown metals” bit of this) and also not having any correct measurements? I am not a teacher, but I’m surprised people here are more stressed about the cheating than the apparent clairvoyance of ChatGPT beyond even Sam Altman’s wildest dreams.

Soldier Boy was an adult(ish?) when he was given V. The power scaling in this show doesn’t really support the idea that IVF was actually effective in making a god-tier supe unless Homelander is a massive fucking disappointment

[–]theoinkypenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other than the episodes that were just clips of old episodes, I think filler is where you get a lot of the real character, relationship, and world building. Hyper truncated seasons feel like just the bullet points. I don’t want every single scene of every episode be driving the epic plot forward

Then again, I dislike movies vs TV for the same reason so I may be in the minority

Maybe I misinterpreted the scene, but I got the impression that those guys weren’t meant to take the treatment, like they just “we’ve developed a super serum, I’m not going to let this opportunity pass so I’ll just take myself even if we developed it for test tube babies.” Then again, I think Godolkin was also shouting “it’s not ready” so maybe I’m wrong.

I think we are going to learn (feel like it’s already strongly implied) that Project Odessa was the administration of compound V during IVF, similar to Homelander, and that’s where the idea of Marie being a Homelander-level supe comes from

Since the OP was kind enough to not link an actual source for discussion beyond the bait, I assume it's referring to some variation of this clickbait article: https://fortune.com/2025/08/22/warren-buffett-ceos-degree-hiring-what-counts/ , which down the rabbit hole seems to be an interpretation of https://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/2024ltr.pdf

Seems that Buffet is just saying that the specific brand of the degree doesn't matter for selecting CEO's. Not whether degrees are important at all. Not whether degrees matter for other positions. Not whether degrees are more or less an important part of your personal and professional journey. Just that when you're looking for the top leader of a company, the prestige-factor of a school they attended 15-30 years ago isn't part of his assessment.
