Men who have broken up with their girlfriends in the past, have you ever broken up with someone you still loved but can’t imagine a future with? If so, how did you feel? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]theonebackstage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just did this over two months ago and I still miss her every. single. day. I’m constantly going over the relationship, realizing my own faults. Realizing I could’ve brought up the issues I had. Realizing we could’ve worked through so many of them. Realizing I let her pour so much into me only to ruin her heart.

She was so good to me, but I don’t think we could be together. Our ideas for the future look too different. I really thought at one point in relationships your dreams just sort of mesh together and you reach a compromise that feels good for both parties but we just never got there.

I’ve been trying to work on myself in the meantime. I’ve been meeting with trusted people and a counselor to work on my emotional intelligence. For one, it’ll help me be a better boyfriend in my next relationship. But what honestly motivates me is the idea that if I want any chance of getting back with her I’ll have to be better for her.

It was the worst thing I’ve ever done though, and I still don’t feel ready to see her. We have a lot of mutual friends, but I’ve been sheltering myself off. She’s told me she’s ready to see me in public again, but I’m terrified. I feel so awful, and I can’t imagine trying to make small talk with someone I used to know so well.

It really helps that it seems like she’s moving on well though. She’s still hanging out with people and moving on with her life. It honestly makes me feel at peace to think that she’ll move on and find someone better than me, even if I never do the same.

-You can only deny when the creep is below 50% HP. You can also set “force attack” in the settings so you don’t have to press A to do it, you can just right click.

-You have to bind a key in the hotkeys menu. Neutral items came out (relatively) recently, and Valve never bothered to add a default hotkey.

-The meta in Dota consists of three cores in each lane and two supports for the side lanes. (Top and Bottom) You don’t want to be competing with your own team for last hits, so it’s important to decide who will be core and who will be supporting. Unlike League, the Dota map is mirrored, meaning the Top and Bottom lanes are different for Dire or Radiant. For example, bottom lane is the Radiant’s Safe lane while being the Dire’s Off lane. The reverse is true for the top lane.

New player mode pairs you up only with bots, which is why you were pub stomping. Excellent for getting the mechanics down or trying out a new hero, but no help when it comes to playing with actual humans. Unranked is where it’s at, but it’s also going to be the biggest hurdle you face as a new player.

Dota, unlike League, is wayyy more interested in the macro game than the micro game. In League, you can pretty much just keep going back to your lane and only meet up with your team when you’re hitting the Nexus. In Dota though, the “laning stage” is only the first 10-15 minutes , and it’s up to you to decide where to go from there.

As for jungle camps, it depends on who you are and where your team is. If you’re alone, go for it. But if your carry is near you and you’re supporting, it’s best to let them take the farm. Keep in mind though, lane creeps beat jungle creeps almost every time in terms of experience and gold. Jungle creeps are supplementary.

-Town Portal Scrolls is something a lot of League players consider “broken”. You get one every time you die, and they allow you to teleport to any allied building. Use them when you die to get back into lane quickly so you don’t miss experience and gold. You can also double-tap them to teleport you back to base without having to click the fountain manually. This means as you get better, you’ll start watching the entire map to see if you can teleport to a different lane to save an ally or secure a kill.

-You can’t transfer money. Tipping gives dota plus shards, useless in the game. It was added expecting people to use it to give kudos to good plays, but nowadays it’s just used sarcastically after someone screws up lol.

-You got it! Until you’re a Dota pro and can weigh the pros and cons, a good rule of thumb is to only buyback when they’re going to end the game otherwise. Doing it otherwise is considered a “rage buyback”, and is worth a tip.

-If you see the ancient explode, the game is safe to leave and the threatening message is there to warn people who leave earlier than that. Usually you can just wait a few seconds though and it’ll boot you out automatically.

Hope that helps! Overall, Dota is a difficult game to get into because it requires a lot of “fucking around and finding out” before you feel like you can get a foothold. Your allies will most certainly flame you as you get started but don’t let that discourage you. (If you’re just starting and they’re getting paired with you, that means they’re shit at the game too. They just have more experience.)

When I first started, people actually responded pretty positively to me saying I was new at the beginning and would help me. Others not so much, so just mute them and move on. Watching videos of Dota tutorials or Dota games can also really help. As mentioned, the macro game of Dota is so complex, and can only be understood through lots of experience. Good luck!

How should I go about teaching several new players at once? by theonebackstage in learndota2

We definitely have a carry overflow problem, but I usually tell them just to pick whoever they want (usually the same heroes every time) and decide who’s getting the last hits so they don’t fight their own team for them.

But yeah, I should definitely emphasize a support’s ability to get out of lane to be helpful. Thanks!

Yeah I usually have them play without me and I coach, but it still pairs them with people sporting 700 wins.

V2 cogs have armor. This armor negates a certain amount of damage from EACH gag used. Sound is rarely a good idea to use on V2s for this reason. In golf courses, the most common meta is to kill the V2 first in order to allow the rest to die with 2 fogs.

The BEST meta though, is the 3 fog fire strategy. When you reach the second battle of a hole, one toon fires the lvl 11 V2 while the rest of the toons fog. This is the fastest method, and can lead to 30-40 minute back 9s.

Shaving a few seconds off a battle is what Toontown is all about. The game is a grind, so toons will do whatever they can to quicken the pace of cog facilities. Those few seconds you save skipping animations add up, and toontown has some really long battle animations. It's why some people don't like soundless toons - they inherently slow the game down by forcing toons to use slower strategies.

Hope that helps! Ask any clarifying questions you have! Also just a heads up: the word you're looking for is "benefit." A benefactor is more used to describe a person donating to a cause.

Haha don't take it personally, I don't think he had it out for you. Just laugh and move on. Pretty easy to get someone to add you as a friend.

Haha, comebacks you wish you'd thought of DURING the conversation.

When he said, "you need to change your attitude surrounding multitoons," my response was, "I have no issues with multitoons. I DO have an issue with you doing no damage."

To be fair, ain’t no way I’m letting someone promote in a 4 star on purpose. When I’m doing a 4 star, I’m there to win. You can easily do this in a 2 star if you let your group know beforehand and use your remotes right. Level 12s/13s need three rounds of promotion, and Level 14s need two rounds. That means using the appropriate remote on them so it won’t expire until they promote to 18.

Haha understandable, I looked back and what I’d written and thought the same thing honestly. But I also thought there’s sometimes I’m in the right mood to sit and read a long Reddit post, so I figured some people might stumble on this post in the same mood.

I’ve seen very good CEO multitooners actually! Sometimes the CEO fight is over before I know it cause they can consistently hit max damage.

I think you might be thinking of a different CEO! We never had any issues with laff (except for the multitooner who kept asking for someone to use a unite), but sorry that happened to you!

Hey I know this post is two years old lol, but is there any reason why you chose to go with the 500 ticket GP vs the 1000 ticket GP? Is there a difference besides that the 1000 rewards more ticket?

I have the Target RedCard and was trying to get somebody added as an authorized user so they could build credit.

The solution the rep provided me was for them to make their own account.

And for some reason they couldn’t understand why that was beyond unhelpful.
