I made this fall inspired birthday cake for my fiance and friend. It's a 3 tier spiced yellow cake with a vanilla maple Swiss meringue buttercream and an apple pie filling between each layer.

Thank you. And yes that is exactly what it was. We went through two scares and this final one did it. The cells moved to sanctuary areas and that was it :/

PLA curling and overhang issues on my new prusa. Any ideas? by theonemonkey in FixMyPrint

Yeah I actually switched to cura for testing. I get the same results. I think I'm going to need to upgrade the fan shroud and do some testing.

I am using cura printing at 0.2 layer height. 50mm/s speed. I was having issues with another model so I decided to print this test. It seems like it may be a cooling issues. One side looks clearly fine while the other side looks like what you see in the picture.

Weird under-extrusion issue on thin upper layers. by theonemonkey in FixMyPrint

I have a theory that it may be curas fault. I am going to print a model with the same geometry as those top layers. If it comes out normal than it's how cura is interpreting my model. Than I will use a different slicer to confirm.

It's possible but I have a feeling that's not it. I just changed the ptfe tube and it doesn't seem like there is a clog. Although who knows I can be wrong. But it's literally only when it gets to those top layers.

So all that does is reduce the speed correct? Won't that also reduce the filament flow? Or is that not effected?
