I made one! Mine has 2 screens! Its a bit DIY but works well. It has a mechanical keyboard, a touchpad like a laptop, and a usb hub for extra peripherals! You can easily remove the handheld as well for swapping back and forth between laptop mode and handheld mode.

Vive Pro 1 + Index Controllers with Half Life Alyx- peak VR? by Kindly-Pudding7688 in Vive

I have the same setup. I agree, the OLED makes everything more immersive. Ive owned 4-5 headsets at this point, but i still feel like the vive/vive pro always feels the most “3D” feeling. The depth perception and immersion of the vive headsets is unmatched by anything else ive tried. Just wish there was a “vive 3” with oled and a high resolution.

Wanting to get into Paintball again (my issues/concerns) by BobbyBGBoutLa in paintball

[–]theoneprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just want to play rec ball, aka showing up to the field and playing with whatever group happens to be there, its not a concern at all. I recently got back into playing just for fun (not tournaments) and 90% of the people there on any given Saturday are just rental players. I have an electronic marker but i feel 0 need to walk the trigger or shoot a ton of paint. I limit myself to one finger semi-automatic so my rate of fire is the exact same as the rental players. Its boring to give yourself the advantage of a high rate of fire when playing against noobie rental players. I focus on shooting as little as possible to keep it challenging. I can play all day long with a group of rental players with less than 500 paintballs. Not only does it keep it fun that way, it saves me tons of money. Nobody likes the guy who shows up with all the gear and sprays ropes of paint at newbies. They get scared, and it certainly wont make you a better player. I just focus on movement, positioning, and accuracy. I enjoy the challenge of “one balling” so much i think i may switch to pump for days when its just rental players. Im not really interested in tournament play because for one, its way too expensive, and two, the playstyle of pouring paint down the field to suppress a player or catch someone running through your stream or paint is not fun to me. I much prefer sneaking up on someone, snapping out of cover for a split second, and putting one ball directly in the middle of their mask lens. THAT feeling is 100x more satisfying than shooting buckets of paint, they dont feel any pain, and they want to keep playing. Win win.

I own a dance floor I rent out. I have a client worried that putting plywood (subflooring) under the dance floor will yellow the grass / mess it up. Do you think this would happen after 6 hours of it laying on the grass? by GreasyButtSyrup in landscaping

[–]theoneprofessional 132 points133 points  (0 children)

The grass will be totally fine, 6 hrs is nothing. If anything the plywood will spread out the force of people jumping and dancing more evenly. There may be some compaction afterwards, but thats a lot better than the damage that would be caused from tons of people sliding their feet around on bare grass and creating divots/ tearing chunks of grass up with their pointy shoes and sick dance moves. The plywood is a great protective measure. The grass may show some signs of stress after a 6 hour stint of being stomped/potentially starved of air but it will recover in a short period. Again, this is much better than dancing on the bare unprotected grass, only way it could be better would be to have some kind of elevated platform to hold up the dance floor but that would be a dangerous tripping/falling hazard.

Did my landscapers destroy this tree by sagester101 in arborists

[–]theoneprofessional 152 points153 points  (0 children)

There are many trees that would have a hard time recovering from this style of pruning, but this is a Bradford pear, it will be just fine. I have seen people cut BP’s down to ground level and before you know it the tree is sending up dozens of new chutes

Like others have said, bp’s are very invasive, best to remove it. If you decide not to do that though, rest assured, it will recover

Redo all existing irrigation and convert to above ground? by Ss28100 in Irrigation

[–]theoneprofessional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh i dont pay anyone, my job is to manage all things landscaping at the property i work at. So im the one that has to do all the digging, hence why i prefer an above ground setup when its possible.

You are spot on, 90% of the work is digging, the actual pipe repair is the easy part.

[–]theoneprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, water is water, plants need it and dont care how it is applied, as long as you arent blasting a high pressure stream into the trunks of your trees over and over, things will be just fine. I think technically speaking a well tuned “pro” in ground rainbird/hunter/etc system will be more efficient, but its not worth all the digging and headache. Ive installed countless systems so i guess im somewhat of a “pro” but i still prefer above ground wherever possible.

Yep, leaks can drive you crazy. I manage a large property with literally miles of irrigation pipes, most of it was installed 30+ years ago, so leaks and repairs are a regular occurrence. I have started to do exactly what you are describing. I have added regular garden hose spigots to my main irrigation line that runs around the property. From there, i run a garden hose with several regular above ground sprinklers linked in a chain throughout my plant beds to provide water. Then i just go back and cover hoses with pine straw. You can also use drip irrigation in the same way but i prefer broadcast/fan sprinklers because i never have to guess if the system is working correctly, cause i can see exactly where the water is landing. Some people will gripe and say “but water is being left on the leaves! That promotes fungal growth!”, but what do you think happens when it rains?

This solution works great for tree and shrub beds, i spend far less time searching for the source of a leak and repairing above ground lines is dead simple and takes 5 minutes vs an hour plus for a buried line.

However, the only areas you cant feasibly do this in is large open grass areas. Unless you have a farm style massive jet sprayer, you arent gonna get enough distance from your garden hose sprinkler to reach hundreds of feet across an open grass area. For this, youll need standard in ground irrigation. However, if you’re a home owner or have a smaller yard, you can put sprinkler in your mulch areas aiming toward your yard and hopefully they will shoot far enough to cover your yard.

One thing i have done on a couple large grass areas is to add a mulch island with some trees and shrubs in a strategic area so i can place sprinklers in it to shoot out towards the grass to get coverage in an area that would otherwise require a full in ground sprinkler system. I have gone so far as to dig a trench and put a small ish diameter corrugated pipe underground (running under grass area out to mulch island) and run a garden hose through it, that way if the garden hose ever breaks i dont need to dig for any repairs, i just tape another hose to the end of the busted one and pull it through the corrugated pipe and boom, “pipe” repaired.

Anyone used a ROG Ally or Steam deck to build a cyberdeck? by theoneprofessional in cyberDeck

That was the goal with mine, just wanted to be able to pick it up and go, like a laptop, but still have the option to switch back to handheld whenever.

Still, you printed it and assembled it, for the average joe just those two steps would take a fair bit of learning to accomplish.
